Two men broke into a home in Milo, robbed the owner at gunpoint and made off with $10 on Saturday night, police said.
No one was injured, and police have arrested two people who later confessed, according to Milo Police Chief Michael Poulin.
An unidentified woman drove Eric J. McLeod, 33, of 8 Abbey Lane in Milo and Wayne Richards, 31, of 220 East Main St. in Dover-Foxcroft, to the Alton Street home just before 9 p.m., Poulin said. The driver parked the vehicle across the street in a ball field and let her two passengers out, he said.
McLeod and Richards allegedly entered the house through the front door and found the homeowner and his girlfriend there. One of the two men held the homeowner at gunpoint and ordered him to leave the house, Poulin said. The pair told the man he owed them money, took $10 in cash, which was all the victim had, and fled, Poulin said.
The victims contacted Milo police and identified the suspects. The Milo police were assisted by officers from Dover-Foxcroft and Brownville and by the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department.
“We saturated the area,” Poulin said, and after receiving a tip that McLeod was in Knapp’s Trailer Park, officers arrested him there. McLeod confessed and told police Richards had a firearm, Poulin said.
Dover-Foxcoft police found Richards at his home and arrested him. Richards also confessed to the break-in but not to owning a firearm, Poulin said.
Both men were charged with Class A felony robbery and taken to Piscataquis County Jail, where they were released Sunday after each posted $300 bail. (Anne Ravana, BDN)
