Many activities are part of Houlton’s Bicentennial Celebration Aug. 17-19, and here are two fundraisers that could benefit you and the organizations conducting them.
Anne Callnan, vice president of the Houlton Fair Association, wrote that the Houlton “fair has been the only state fair in Maine without its own land,” but it recently “purchased 102 acres as our new home. Now we must finance the groundwork, building.”
To help in that effort, the association is raffling a 2007 27-foot Puma travel trailer at 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, “before the fireworks in Community Park.”
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at www.houltonfair.com.
And Elizabeth Dulin, executive director of Health Services Foundation, wrote that the group is raffling a 36-by-20-inch original painting of Houlton’s Monument Park by local artist Esther Orr Faulkner.
The winner also receives a smaller picture of the park, circa 1932, and a framed document with monument and marker information.
Raffle tickets are $5 each or six for $25 and can be purchased at www.healthservicesfoundation.org. This drawing is also Saturday, Aug. 18, with a time and place to be determined.
Proceeds benefit the HSF $1 million campaign for Houlton Regional Hospital’s Nuclear Medicine Project.
For information, visit the Web site, call HSF at 521-2147 or 521-2503, or e-mail hsfedulin@pwless.net.
