OLD TOWN – The Old Town McDonald’s restaurant has joined with Ovations for the Cure in a weeklong effort to raise money to fight ovarian cancer. Ovations for the Cure is a New England foundation dedicated to raising research funds and awareness for ovarian cancer.

Beginning this past Sunday and continuing through Saturday, Aug. 18, the Old Town McDonald’s will feature daily prize giveaways and events including bingo, face painting and a dunk tank.

Prizes include a kayak, jewelry, furniture, a YMCA family membership, clothing, framed watercolor paintings, gift certificates and a living wreath, according to a press release.

As the centerpiece of the fundraising effort, the Old Town McDonald’s is one of seven McDonald’s across New England participating in the “Teal at the Wheel Drive-Thru Challenge,” an attempt to break the world record of 1,000 vehicles served via drive-thru in one hour. The event takes place at 5 p.m. Saturday.

To participate, individuals must purchase a special $5 ticket in advance for a Quarter Pounder Meal Deal, according to the press release. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Old Town McDonald’s or at www.ovationsforthecure.org.
