BUCKSPORT – Alan Bailey, who recently received a master’s degree in vocal performance from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, will perform a concert of classical selections, Broadway favorites and jazz standards at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, at the Bucksport Middle School Auditorium on Miles Lane.

The concert will benefit the recent purchase of a Kawaii grand piano. The piano was acquired by the Bucksport Area Cultural Arts Society this past spring for the Bucksport Auditorium.

The society established a capital campaign with a goal of $10,000 to help defray cost of the piano.

Bailey, a lyric baritone, will perform works by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Hugo Wolf and Muhammed Fairouz in the first half of the evening. After intermission, he will be joined onstage by several guest singers to perform duets from well-known Broadway shows including “Sweeney Todd,” “Rent,” “The Full Monty,” “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Les Miserables.”

Deborah Colageo of Bangor will serve as accompanist on the new Kawaii piano.

Bailey is a 2005 graduate, cum laude, from the University of Maine with a degree in music performance. He has studied with Ludlow Hallman and Ann Mills. Her performed with Bucksport Community Theater in “The Music Man” and with Maine Masque in “The Rocky Horror Show” and “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.”

Suggested donation for the concert is $5. For information, call Mark Neslusan, 433-5120.
