PARIS – A 60-year-old man was killed Tuesday night when a train struck his pickup truck at a crossing near his home.

Edward Kilgore was pronounced dead at the scene after the St. Lawrence & Atlantic freight train hit the truck on the driver’s side on Hathaway Road shortly before 8 p.m., police said.

The crossing is marked by signs but has no flashing lights or bells. A whistle is usually blown 20 seconds before the train reaches the crossing, and police said that procedure was followed.
