JERICHO, Vt. – Russell Currier of Stockholm placed second in a men’s 10-kilometer roller-ski sprint competition Friday in the U.S. Summer Biathlon Festival at Camp Ethan Allen. Currier, a 2006 Caribou High graduate and biathlon junior world championship team member, hit eight of 10 targets.

JERICHO, Vt. – Russell Currier of Stockholm placed second in a men’s 10-kilometer roller-ski sprint competition Friday in the U.S. Summer Biathlon Festival at Camp Ethan Allen.

Currier, a 2006 Caribou High graduate and biathlon junior world championship team member, hit eight of 10 targets. Fort Kent’s Newt Rogers was ninth overall.

Madawaska native Meagan Toussaint finished fourth in the women’s 7.5K race, struggling on the range with six misses but making up for it with a fast roller-ski time. BethAnn Chamberlain, who lives in Caribou, hit eight targets to finish third. Maine Winter Sports Center team member Haley Johnson of Lake Placid, N.Y., was sixth. Fort Fairfield natives Rose-Mary Williams and Hilary McNamee were ninth and 10th, respectively.
