CAMDEN – On Tuesday, Aug. 28, the Maine Literary Festival and the Camden Public Library will co-sponsor an evening with writer and editor Frances Kiernan, who will read from and discuss her latest book, “The Last Mrs. Astor: A New York Story.”

For close to 50 years, Brooke Astor made headlines for her philanthropic work and her role in New York society. She died Aug. 13 at 105.

Frances Kiernan of New York City is a former editor at The New Yorker and the author of “Seeing Mary Plain: A Life of Mary McCarthy.”

The Maine Literary Festival is a project of the Midcoast Branch of the American Association of University Women and is to take place in November.

The reading begins at 6 p.m. in the Reading Room at the Camden Public Library. A reception for the author will follow.
