How good it is to read news coverage of Sen. Olympia Snowe listening to Mainers’ views as she makes walking tours around the state. I’ve also read she’ll make a trip to Iraq to assess the situation there just prior to the report due Congress on Sept. 15. I appreciate her efforts and hope they lead to her calling for an end to our tragic occupation of Iraq.

Over a half-trillion taxpayer dollars have been spent on Iraq with a continuing $10 billion being spent every month. Think of how that investment here in the United States could improve the lives of many Mainers.
