Naturalist Shannon to lead Orono Bog trip

BELFAST – Naturalist Mike Shannon will lead a day trip to the Orono Bog on Sept. 11.

Sponsored by Senior College at the University of Maine’s Hutchinson Center, the trip is open to all and will include a mile-long walk along the bog’s boardwalk. In addition to Shannon’s wealth of knowledge about the 616-acre bog, self-guiding signs provide information and benches are available for stopping along the way.

A bus will leave the Hutchinson Center lower parking lot at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, and will return by 5 p.m. The cost of the trip is $30 for Senior College members and $35 for nonmembers. Participants should bring a bag lunch and water.
