On the front page of the July 25 BDN a headline said, “Baldacci weighs session on tax relief.” If the governor is sincere he could very well find reason for tax relief in Carmel, as a new revaluation sent property values over double from previous years.
After they got through juggling the mill rates, my taxes went up over $370. When I tried to explain there were some weak spots in the century-plus-old place, I could well have talked into an empty pillow case.
I hope the governor will take a good look at property taxes and come up with some sensible answers.
