Brewer Youth Hockey
BREWER – Brewer Youth Hockey registration for the 2007-2008 ice hockey season will be held 5:30-8 p.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 29 and Sept. 5, at Brewer Auditorium.
Boys and girls may register for one of these categories:
. Learn-To-Skate, for new skaters ages 3 and up.
. Learn-To-Play, an introduction to ice hockey for ages 3 and up.
. Mites, age 8 and up.
. Squirts, ages 9 and 10.
. Peewee, ages 11 and 12.
. Bantam, ages 13 and 14.
All skaters need to register with USA Hockey before registering for Brewer Youth Hockey. Visit www.brewerhockey.org and click on the USA Hockey Member link and follow the instructions. A credit card is needed to process the national registration.
The fee is $36 for ages 6 and up. Print out the completed registration verification and bring it to one of the Brewer Youth Hockey events.
Those who have preregistered still are required to complete the registration process on one of the two nights.
Registration fees are due in full at the time of registration, unless alternative payment plans have been made.
Travel try-out registration also will be held each evening. The cost is an additional $35 per skater. Try-out times and location will be announced later.
Coaching applications will be available and accepted at the registration. The Brewer Youth Hockey board of directors will be on hand to answer questions about the programs, and representatives of Gunn’s Sports Shop will be there with information on outfitting skaters.
Brewer Youth Hockey, with the support of Dunkin’ Donuts of Brewer, is offering its Learn-To-Skate and Learn-To-Play hockey programs. The sessions will run on Sundays for 16 weeks, starting in October. The cost is $99 per skater.

Bangor Youth Hockey
BANGOR – Bangor Youth Hockey will hold its annual registration and information nights 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 11 and 12, at the Bangor Armory, 647 Main St.

Orono Rec soccer
ORONO – The Orono Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registrations for its fall soccer program beginning Sept. 15. This program is open to all children in kindergarten through grades six.
Teams practice one day per week and play on Saturday mornings. The fee is $25 for Orono residents and $35 for others. There will be a players and coaches clinic on Saturday, Sept. 15.
The Recreation Department is looking for volunteer coaches and referees. To obtain information or to volunteer your time, call 866-5065.
Orono Youth Football
ORONO – Orono Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registrations for its Youth Football program.
The program is open to area youth in grades one through six:
. Flag football, grades one and two, $35.
. With equipment, grades three and four, $50.
. Full-contact football, grades five and six, $50.
The fees include a late fee for registration after Aug. 1.

Benefit golf tournament
INDIAN ISLAND – The Penobscot Nation Boys and Girls Club hosted its first golf tournament Aug. 11 at the Palmyra Golf Course. The event benefited the club which serves youth from Indian Island and the Bangor area. Proceeds will contribute to the free programs.
The tournament featured golfing with Olympic gold medalist and snowboarder Seth Wescott, Maine State Powerlifting Champion Troy Varnum and Penobscot Tribal Chief Kirk Francis. The day ended with a barbecue luncheon and award ceremony.
The tournament offered prizes and auction items. Pat Bouchard won the live auction item. In September, she will be a VIP guest at a golf tournament with Cal Ripken Jr.
