SEARSPORT – The Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition will sponsor a plant hike across Sears Island at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8.

Leo Gillam will lead the hike and talk about edible and medicinal plants available along the walk. The two to three hour trip is limited to 12 persons. Those interested should call 338-1147 to reserve a place in the group.

Participants should bring sunscreen, water and a snack, and wear clothing suitable for Maine’s changeable weather along the shore.

The Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition is a group of organizations and individuals working to support conservation and stewardship of natural, scenic historic, and public access resources of the watershed through research, community-building and education.
