A Bangor man who had a knife tucked inside the top of his pants in West Market Square was stopped by Bangor police at 9:45 p.m. Monday and charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

In addition to the knife discovered on Dennis Whitman, 24, officers also found in his pockets a pair of brass knuckles, which are illegal to own or possess in Maine, Sgt. Bob Bishop said.

After he was transported to Penobscot County Jail, a search turned up another knife in a Kubaton sheath in his pants. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

Bangor police responded to a call at a State Street apartment on Tuesday morning to discover furniture and household items all over the sidewalk and street, Sgt. Jim Buckley said.

Derrick Knowlton, 33, was found by police distraught and was arrested for domestic assault in connection with the 7:20 a.m. incident. He was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center for an evaluation. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
