DEDHAM – The school board met on Monday and decided to send one letter of intent to the state’s Department of Education indicating it will work with RSU 15, which includes Brewer.

Brewer Superintendent Daniel Lee, who has served as the superintendent for Dedham since July, said on Tuesday the vote was unanimous.

The state has suggested that Dedham partner with Brewer, Orrington, SAD 63 and CSD 8 to create a regional school unit, known as RSU 15. SAD 63 is composed of Holden, Eddington and Clifton, and CSD 8 is made up of Amherst, Aurora, Great Pond and Osborn.

Maine’s new school consolidation law requires that most school units reorganize into larger, more efficient systems and that all current school units file letters of intent about partners by Friday.
