GERMANY – Margaret Duggan (Bronxville HS/Bronxville, N.Y.), a 2006 Colby College graduate, and her United States teammates made the final of the Women’s Lightweight Quadruple Sculls at the 2007 FISA World Rowing Championships on Wednesday at the 1972 Olympic Regatta Course in Oberschleissheim, Germany.

The U.S. boat will be one of six in this Sunday’s championship race after taking second to China in a repechage Wednesday. Great Britain and Austria both won heats Monday and automatically qualified for Sunday’s final. The top four crews in the six-boat repechage also advanced to the final.

China led at each 500-meter passing and finished the 2,000-meter race in 6:49.06. The U.S. boat was second the entire way and clocked a 6:50.91. Germany took third in 6:52.68 and Netherlands got in the final with a 6:58.66. Italy (7:07.06) and Malaysia (7:18.88) were both eliminated.

Duggan rows for the New York Athletic Club and competed in the race with Sarah Bates (Garrison, N.Y.), Carey Brezler (Waynesboro, Pa.), and Hannah Moore (Niskayuna, N.Y.). Duggan and Bates, also a rower for the New York Athletic Club, won the Under-23 Women’s Doubles at last year’s Head of the Charles Regatta.
