FORT KENT – Freshman Andre Anderson scored two second-half goals to lift the University of Maine-Fort Kent over UM-Presque Isle 3-0 in men’s soccer action Friday.
Dwayne Smith also scored in the second half for UMFK and Emlyn Jacoby provided two assists. Derrick Plourde stopped the only shot he faced.
Scott Clency made six saves on nine shots for UMPI.
Women’s soccer
Massachusetts 1, Maine 0
At Kingston, R.I., Sydney Stoll scored on a Britt Canfield assist at 17:55 in the first half to lead the University of Massachusetts past UMaine.
Kristin Walker stopped all four shots for the shutout for the 1-0 Minutemen.
Jasmine Phillips blocked four of five shots for 0-1 Maine.
Field hockey
Dartmouth 3, Maine 2 (OT)
At Hanover, N.H, Lizzie Bildner scored an unassisted goal at 77:06 in overtime to lift Dartmouth University past UMaine.
Bildner added another goal in the first half for 1-0 Dartmouth. Virginia Pelsch scored a goal and Stef Miller had an assist. Jordan Sedlacek made two saves on five shots.
Kim MacDonald and Jackie D’Amato scored for the 0-3 Black Bears. Brittney Cummings and Amy Zdrojesky provided assists. Maygan Cassarino made five saves on nine shots.
Volleyball
Maine drops two
At Orono, Texas Christian University and Cincinnati defeated the University of Maine in Memorial Gym. TCU won 30-19, 30-26, 30-20 and Cincinnati won 30-17, 30-14, 30-16.
In the first game, Kourtney Edwards had 14 kills and Lauren Otto added 12 kill and 14 digs for TCU.
Brittany Kiehl had eight kills to lead the Black Bears and Amy Lawson had seven kills and three blocks. Paige Tortorello added 16 assists and Jessica Wolfended had 11 assists.
In the second game, Stephanie Niemer, Jessie Nevitt and Jessica Elley each had nine kills for Cincinnati.
Megan Smith had five kills for 0-6 Maine and Tortorello added 12 assists.
