WATERVILLE – Chris Corey converted on a corner kick with 19:50 remaining in regulation to give the Brewer Witches a season-opening 2-1 schoolboy soccer victory over the Waterville Panthers Friday.

Ryan Nadeau gave Brewer a 1-0 lead in the first half with a penalty kick. Chris Brady made 11 saves on 14 shots for the 1-0 Witches.

Teddy Worster scored a breakaway goal for 0-1 Waterville. Zach Jochein saved 12 out of 15 shots.

JV: Waterville 6-2

Old Town 4, Orono 2

At Old Town, Luke Bartlett’s second goal of the game, coming in the final minutes of the first half, broke a 2-2 tie and Chad Paradis added an insurance goal early in the second half as Old Town triumphed.

Josh Hesseltine assisted on both goals.

Bartlett and Dan Zmistowski scored earlier in the first half and Ethan Shanley finished with five saves.

Ian Staples and Lee Hecker scored for Orono and Nate Peterson made 11 saves.

JV: Old Town 1-0

Bangor Chr. 8, Searsport 0

At Bangor, Zach Kutz scored two goals and provided two assists to lead Bangor Christian to victory over Searsport.

Brett Bradford scored twice for the 1-0 Patriots and Brandon Wilcox had a goal and three assists. Wontaek Oh and Jae Sim each had a goal and an assist and Phil Dougherty added a goal. Sam McLeod made no saves on one shot.

Dan Peach stopped 22 of 43 shots for 0-1 Searsport.

Penobscot Valley 1, Penquis 0

At Howland, Leigh Dolley scored with 10 minutes left in the first half on a Dylan Thompson assist to lead Penobscot Valley past Penquis of Milo.

Aaron Awalt stopped six of nine shots for 1-0 Penobscot Valley.

Richie Russell made 12 saves on 17 shots for 0-1 Penquis.

Field hockey

Old Town 5, Orono 2

At Old Town, Sarah Wilcox scored three goals with Jenna King and Elexa Nickerson tallying the others as Old Town triumphed.

Cally Randall had two assists and Heather Nye made six saves.

Amy Mares and Elizabeth Vinal scored for Orono and Amber Saucier made eight stops.

JV: Old Town 1-0

Skowhegan 4, Brewer 0

At Brewer, Sam Gifford scored a goal and assisted two others to lift Skowhegan over Brewer.

Erin Sevey, Melissa Hancock and Becky Pratt added goals for 1-0 Skowhegan. Lorri Hiltz, Mallory Hancock and Caitlyn Lancaster had assists. Megan Hancock stopped the only shot she faced.

Angela Patterson made 27 saves on 31 shots for 0-1 Brewer.

JV: Skowhegan 3-1

Girls soccer

Waterville 12, Brewer 0

At Brewer, Stephanie Whitten scored four goal to lead Waterville to victory over Brewer.

Stacie Whitten and Kylee Gardiner both scored twice for the 1-0 Panthers. Kayle Tuttle, Jordan Pellerin, Lauren Naswelback and Nikoleta Shanos all added a goal. Taylor Hart stopped all three shots.

Carolyn Tuck made 20 saves on 32 shots for the 0-1 Witches.

Orono 1, Old Town 0

At Orono, Lauren Wheeler scored the winning goal off of a Alyssa Bates assist about 10 minutes in the second half to lead Orono past Old Town.

Brittney Pinkham blocked seven of 11 shots for the 1-0 Red Riots.

Annie Cashon made 10 saves on 16 shots for the 0-1 Coyotes.

JV: Old Town 4-2

Bangor Chr. 5, Searsport 3

At Searsport, Christin Pelletier scored two goals to lead Bangor Christian past Searsport.

Demelza Ramirez, Berity Ramirez and Katherine Bragg each added a goal for the 1-0 Patriots. Mariah Bach made 14 saves on 24 shots.

Kali Berenyi scored a goal and assisted another for 0-1 Searsport. Sarah Bradshaw and Taylor Garcelon both scored. Megan Higgins and Amanda Chaney combined to make nine saves on 28 shots.

JV: 3-3

Piscataquis 1, Foxcroft 0

At Guilford, Jacklyn Crouse scored 9:30 into the game to lift Piscataquis to the season-opening win.

Samara Hooter assisted on the goal for the 1-0 Pirates; Jill Martell saved all six shots she faced.

Sarah Whittemore had 12 saves on 13 shots for 0-1 Foxcroft Academy.

JV: Piscataquis 1-0

Penquis 6, Penobscot Valley 5

At Milo, Kayla Webb knocked in four goals as Penquis won its first game in two seasons after a 28-game losing streak.

Brittany Genthner added two more goals for the 1-0 Patriots. Kristyn Chapman had 14 saves on 27 shots.

Jordan Leveille paced 0-1 Penobscot Valley of Howland with two goals; Holly Thompson, Morgan Rancourt and Lindsay Durost each added one for the Howlers. Julie Theriault stopped 12 of 24 shots.
