A place for performers

I recently had the good fortune of going to the open mike at the Morgan Hill Event Center. Musicians that I usually see in the Brick Church’s open mike were there. The open mike is expertly run by seasoned performers.

The building is new with an incredible stage and acoustics that require little amplification. Like the “Field of Dreams,” the baseball movie with the story line if you make it they will come, this event center is being born and will soon be the place to go for new and seasoned talent. In short the building is awe inspiring for performance potential and the owner is a humble down to earth, let’s make it happen person.

The open mike is alcohol free and perfect for family participation. It’s as good, wholesome and attractive a place and experience as any parent would hope to bring their kid to.

On the outskirts of Bangor at the end of I-395, it is easy to find. The open mike started Aug. 15, and as yet will need to persevere until people wake up and discover it. The owners plan to invite talent scouts. I recommend visiting frequently, getting seasoned with your performance and getting used to the beautiful stage.

With dance studios and classes already in the basement and possibly art classes, the owner is serious about lifting the arts in this community (as the school programs cut back the arts).

I watched some young dancers on stage perfecting their act last night. From running the open mike years ago at the Brick Church on Union Street to seeing this opportunity develop, the Bangor area has come a long way in developing opportunities for new talent.

If you love to participate in music, dance, poetry or theatrical skits, you just should not miss this golden opportunity in your life as a Bangor region person.
