Nokomis tips Oak Hill in OT

SABATTUS – Jordin McGinnis’ goal on a Lauren Lancaster assist with 2:52 left in the second overtime lifted Nokomis of Newport to a 2-1 schoolgirl field hockey victory over Oak Hill Saturday.

Alison Berg scored the game’s first goal off of an Erin Knight assist with 16:16 left in the second half for 1-0 Nokomis. Beth Flanders stopped four of five shots.

Cortney Clark scored on a Casey Gonzalez assist with 14:41 left in regulation to tie the game 1-1 for 0-1 Oak Hill. Brittany Wood made 14 saves on 16 shots.

JV: Nokomis 1-0

Girls soccer

Hampden 2, Messalonskee 1

At Hampden, Lauren Jadallah’s goal off of a Emily Tarbell assist with 19:29 left in the first half lifted the Hampden to victory.

Mikki Libbey tied it at 1-1 on a free kick with 21:27 left in the first for 1-0 Hampden. Tessa Wood made five saves on 14 shots.

Eloise Douglas stopped 14 of 21 shots for Messalonskee.

JV: Hampden 3-0

Presque Isle 1, John Bapst 1

At Presque Isle, Allisen Donovan of Presque Isle and John Bapst’s Sam Maquillian didn’t allow a goal through two overtimes.

Brittany Bearden tied it with 55 seconds left in regulation on a Kayla Legassie assist for 1-0-2 Presque Isle. Donovan stopped 12 of 13 shots.

Catherine Lammert scored an unassisted goal midway through the second half for 0-0-1 John Bapst of Bangor. Maquillian had 18 saves on 27 shots.

JV: Presque Isle 2-0

Greenville 6, Shead 0

At Greenville, McKenna Peat scored twice to lead Greenville past Shead of Eastport.

Gretel Breton, Saige Weeks and Addie Pelletier each had a goal and an assist for 1-0 Greenville. Katilin Harmon scored a goal and Brittany Boucher added an assist. Lauren Fling stopped three of five shots. Dorothy Pottle made 13 saves on 42 shots for 0-2 Shead.

Caribou 3, Hermon 1

At Hermon, Jenna Selander, Kristen Espling and Ali Richards scored to lead Caribou past Hermon.

Sandra Schofield assisted Richards’ goal for 3-0-1 Caribou. Emily Collins made nine saves on 11 shots.

Erika Thayer scored on a Cheyanne Woodard assist in the first half for 0-1 Hermon. Megan Hebert stopped 11 of 14 shots.

Boys soccer

Caribou 5, Hermon 1

At Hermon, Kyle Corrigan scored three goals and assisted another to lead Caribou past Hermon.

Brian Saucier scored an unassisted goal with 8:53 left in the first half for the 0-1 Hawks. Cory Johnson made seven saves on 21 shots.

JV: Caribou 2-1

Presque Isle 2, John Bapst 0

At Presque Isle, Russ Mortland scored the decisive goal midway through the first half to lift Presque Isle past John Bapst of Bangor.

Dillion Kingsbury made five saves on seven shots.

Ethan Cushman stopped 11 of 15 shots for the 0-1 Crusaders.

Greenville 3, Shead 1

At Greenville, Richie Chilson scored a goal and grabbed an assist to lead Greenville by Shead.

Emerson Sikes and Trevor McVey each added a goal for Greenville. Tim Post stopped 10 of 13 shots for the 1-0 Lakers.

Nick Vinson made seven saves on 16 shots for the 0-1 Tigers.

Lawrence 4, Nokomis 2

At Fairfield, Nick Sterling scored two goals to lead Lawrence past Nokomis of Newport.

Brandon Pelletier made eight saves on 19 shots.

Jordan Richards scored both goals for 0-1 Nokomis. John Watson had an assist and Mike Woodbury stopped seven on 18 shots.

Football

Winslow 34, MDI 6

At Winslow, Cory Bezanson and James Wood each scored two touchdowns to lead Winslow to victory over Mount Desert Island of Bar Harbor.

Bezanson scored in the first quarter on a 2-yard run and in the third on an 82-yard run for Winslow. He had 13 carries for 166 yards.

Wood added a 5-yard run in the first and a 7-yard run in the second. Scott Siviski scored a touchdown on a 1-yard run and converted four extra-point kicks.

Stearns 43, Mount View 6

At Belfast, Charlie Osborne scored two touchdowns and rushed for 140 yards to lead Stearns of Millinocket to the win over Mount View of Thorndike at Bryant Field on Saturday.

Stearns snapped a 25-game losing streak.

Cory Barnett rushed for 95 yards and scored two touchdowns for the Minutemen and Brett Herring added a touchdown.

Kurt Hamilton had a safety and a forced fumble for Stearns.

Mount View was playing its first-ever varsity game.
