HERMON – An expanded slate of races and the shift into the final weeks of the 2007 season combined to make for some pivotal action at Speedway 95 Saturday night.

Paul White of Corinna closed the gap in the prostocks series to just nine points by beating current series leader and defending champion John Phippen Jr. of Town Hill.

Jesse Smith of Winterport was third, Gary Smith of Bangor fourth, and Ryan Deane of Winterport fifth.

At Oxford, Canton’s Travis Adams become the first three-time Late Model champion after cinching the crown with a pair of top-four finishes Saturday night. Tommy Tompkins of Dixfield wrapped up the Strictly Stock championship and Leeds’ Jimmy Childs took the Mini Stock crown.

At Wiscasset, Bill Pinkham of Wiscasset took the lead when the front three cars wrecked with six laps to go to win the 100-lap Late Model Sportsman feature on Saturday night.
