Hanscom sparks Lynx win

LINCOLN – Brooke Hanscom scored a goal and assisted on the other to lift the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx to a 2-0 high school field hockey win over the John Bapst Crusaders Monday.

Michelle Paul added a second-half goal for the 1-0 Lynx and Bree Souers had an assist. Sarah French made five saves on nine shots.

Hilary Laferriere stopped 12 of 16 shots for 0-1 John Bapst.

JV: Mattanawcook 4-0

Mt. Blue 3, Brewer 0

At Farmington, Kaitlyn Bullen scored two goals to lead Mt. Blue to victory over Brewer.

Johanna LaPlant added a goal for the 1-1 Cougars and Michelle Oswald had two assists. Niki Grant and Devon Jones both had an assist. Amanda Deschenes stopped all three shots for the shutout.

Angela Patterson made 33 saves on 40 shots for 0-2 Brewer.

JV: Mt. Blue 3-0

Girls soccer

Central Aroostook 2, Washburn 1

At Mars Hill, Latisha Neece’s unassisted 25-yarder 3:21 into the second overtime gave Central Aroostook a 2-1 schoolgirl soccer win over Washburn Monday.

Neece had scored in the first half to tie it off an Amber Bradley corner kick.

Robyn Graham made nine saves on 18 shots for the 3-3-2 Panthers.

Morgan Berube opened the scoring for Washburn off a Rebecca Campbell pass. Rachel Palmer made three saves on six shots. Washburn is now 4-2-1.

Boys soccer

Central Aroostook 5, Washburn 0

At Mars Hill, Emanuel Martinez scored three goals to lead the Central Aroostook Panthers to a 5-0 schoolboy soccer victory over the Washburn Beavers Monday.

Travis McDonald had a goal and three assists for the 4-3-2 Panthers. Blake McCarthy added a goal and Logan McCarthy had an assist. Tyler Rusby made eight saves on 10 shots.

Brian Campbell stopped 29 of 34 shots for 1-5-1 Washburn.
