USM men blank UNE

GORHAM – Pete McHugh scored on a Steve May assist at 13:37 to help the University of Southern Maine men’s soccer team beat the University of New England of Biddeford 3-0 Monday.

Sinisa Bajic added an unassisted goal in the first half for the 2-0 Huskies and Ben Slagle scored on a Greg Cox assist in the second half. David Kreps made two saves on five shots.

Derek Poulin stopped two of nine shots for the 1-1 Nor’easters.

At Gorham, India Lowe scored on a Cristina Corson assist at 52:05 in the second half to break the 1-1 tie and lead the University of Southern Maine to the win over the University of New England at Biddeford.

Alyssa Kraus tied it at 41:41 in the second from assists from Sara Winterbottom and Caitlin Albert for the Huskies. Allie Hill blocked four of five shots.

Jessica Scott scored an unassisted goal at 6:52 in the first half for the Nor’easters. Tanya Callan made five saves on 14 shots.
