Mortland, Presque Isle go overtime, tip Fort Kent

PRESQUE ISLE – Russ Mortland scored off a pass from Ethan Hill with five seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Presque Isle Wildcats to a 1-0 high school boys soccer win over the Fort Kent Warriors Tuesday.

Dillon Kingsbury saved all seven shots he faced for the 2-1 Wildcats.

Matt Haney stopped 25 of 30 shots for 3-1 Fort Kent.

JV: Presque Isle 3-0

Fort Fairfield 10, Hodgdon 0

At Fairfield, Ryan Noyes netted four goals to lead Fort Fairfield by Hodgdon.

Josh Booth scored three goals and Austin Dufour had two. Cody Closson added a goal and three assists for Fort Fairfield. Josh Churchill and Dufour combined for eight saves on eight shots for the 6-0-1 Tigers.

Dan McGillicuddy made 10 saves on 28 shots for the 0-7 Hawks.

Caribou 7, Houlton 3

At Caribou, Jarryd Rossignol and Kyle Corrigan collected three goals and an assist apiece as Caribou improved to 4-0.

Ethan McDuffie had the other Caribou goal and Cameron Anderson had two assists. Franz Zehentner also had an assist. Eric Brown and Chad McCarthy combined for six saves on 14 shots.

Ryan Hill had two goals for Houlton and James Bates had the other one. Bates also assisted on the Hill goals. Ryan Van Buskirk made 15 saves on 38 shots for the 0-5 Shires.

Van Buren 2, Wisdom 0

At Van Buren, Alex Martin and Ben Doucette tallied a goal each as Van Buren triumphed.

Jean Pierre Dumond assisted on Doucette’s goal for the 3-4 Crusaders. Pat Gereben saved three of six shots.

Curtis Collins stopped 10 out of 21 shots for 1-7 Wisdom of St. Agatha.

East Grand 6, Islesboro 1

At Charleston, Lucas Gillis scored two goals and an assist while Tyler Langill netted two goals as East Grand of Danforth rolled.

Tyler Morris and Mark Bartlett added a goal apiece for the 1-0 Vikings. Abe Brittain saved six of eight shots.

Jesse Tutor scored for 0-1 Islesboro and Gerard Scherr had 12 saves on 20 shots.

Schenck 3, Katahdin 0

At East Millinocket, Trevor Violette notched two first-half goals as Schenck shut out Katahdin of Stacyville.

Aaron Hutchins scored and had an assist while Steven Deveau and Chris Ouellette each grabbed an assist for Schenck. Lanny Thompson stopped all 22 shots he faced for the 1-0 Wolverines.

Matt Tarr made 12 saves on 23 shots for the 1-2 Cougars.

Hampden 1, Lawrence 0

At Hampden, Harvey Shue scored a first-half goal to lift Hampden Academy over Lawrence of Fairfield.

Nate Burke assisted on the goal; Cameron Cox stopped all three shots he faced for the 1-1 Broncos.

Cody Fabien saved eight of 15 shots for 1-1 Lawrence.

Ashland 4, Easton 0

At Ashland, Carl Nemer had a goal and two assists and Tyler Cote a goal and assist to pace Ashland’s win.

Kenny Tarr and Jeremy Tarr added a goal apiece for the 4-0 Hornets. Bobby Gardner and Lucas Belanger combined for 19 saves on 38 shots.

Jeremy Brock had 17 saves on 31 shots for 5-2 Easton.

Brewer 8, Messalonskee 5

At Brewer, Jacob Thomas and Luke Thomas scored two goals apiece as Brewer defeated Messalonskee of Oakland.

Taylor Tremble, Shun Sasaki and Ryan Nadeau had a goal and assist and Todd Ramsey a goal for the 2-0 Witches. Chris Brady had eight saves on 12 shots.

Cameron Douglas scored two goals for the 1-1 Eagles while Cameron Onsberg, David Rossignol and Jacob Erskine each added one. Sergio Servello stopped 16 of 18 shots.

Bangor 1, Waterville 0

At Bangor, Pat Bolduc scored off an assist from Mack Susi with 10:48 left in the second half, giving the defending state champions a season-opening victory.

Erik Milles made one save and faced eight shots for the Rams.

Zach Jochem made five saves on eight shots for 0-2 Waterville.

JV: Waterville 3-2

Mt. Blue 2, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Zac Conologue and Jay Smith each posted a goal as Mt. Blue of Farmington defeated Nokomis.

Alex Lee and Ben Russell each grabbed an assist while Devon Zamboni made six saves on 10 shots for the 2-0 Cougars.

Mark Gustin stopped 13 of 16 shots for the 0-2 Warriors.

Girls soccer

Caribou 3, Houlton 1

At Caribou, Kristen Espling and Amanda Cyr each had a goal and assist to lift Caribou past Houlton.

Ali Richards added a goal for the 4-0-1 Vikings. Brittany Doak made six saves on 11 shots.

Lainey Herring scored for 0-5 Houlton. Bethany Targonski turned away nine of 19 shots for the Shiretowners.

JV: Caribou 3-0

Washburn 5, Cen. Aroostook 0

At Washburn, Alex Bird netted two goals and notched a pair of assists to lead Washburn by Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.

Meaghan Saucier scored two goals and Morgan Berube added one for Washburn. Rachel Palmer made four saves on four shots for the Beavers.

Robin Graham made 13 saves on 19 shots for the Panthers.

Fort Fairfield 3, Hodgdon 2

At Fairfield, Rose-Mary Williams scored two goals, including the game-winner, to lift Fort Fairfield past Hodgdon.

Courtney Churchill added a goal while Kristen Hebert made five saves on seven shots for the 4-3-1 Tigers.

Shannon Martin and Krystal Estabrook each netted a goal for Hodgdon. Emily Jurson made 12 saves on 18 shots for the 1-5-1 Hawks.

Van Buren 5, Wisdom 1

At Van Buren, Taylor Parent recorded a goal and two assists as the Crusaders cruised.

Lindsay LaJoie, Jennifer Ouellette, Kristen Vaillancourt and Kelly Vaillancourt each added a goal for 3-3-1 Van Buren. Jamie Allen made five saves on six shots.

Chelsie Paradis scored off an assist from Nicole Chasse for the 3-5-1 Pioneers of St. Agatha. Deliya Michaud stopped 21 of 26 shots.

Fort Kent 2, Madawaska 2 (2OT)

At Madawaska, Marissa Albert scored two goals, including one with 11:12 remaining in the game to force a tie with Madawaska through two overtimes.

Nicole Chasse posted an assist for Fort Kent while Elizabeth Morneault made nine saves on 12 shots for the 2-2-1 Warriors.

Jamie Nadeau and Susan Lavertu each scored a goal for Madawaska. Stephanie Nadeau made six saves on 14 shots for the 6-0-1 Owls.

Katahdin 3, Schenck 0

At East Millinocket, Melissa Duffy scored two of Katahdin’s three second-half goals to beat the Wolverines.

Jalisa Moore added a goal on a penalty kick for the 3-0 winners of Stacyville and assisted on one of Duffy’s goals. Kayla Stevens made nine saves on 12 shots.

For 0-1 Schenck, Leann Toothaker made 10 saves on 17 shots.

Woodland 4, East Grand 0

At Danforth, Ashley Laking netted two goals in the second half as Woodland shut out East Grand.

Rachel Torrey and Cacie Burke each added a second-half goal for Woodland. Cynthia Bergin made six saves on six shots for the Dragons.

Courtney Lloyd stopped 20 of 24 shots for the Vikings.

Waterville 2, Bangor 0

At Waterville, Stephanie Whitten and Chelsea Tuttle scored first half goals to lift Waterville to the win.

Taylor Hart recorded three saves on five shots for the 2-0 Purple Panthers.

Rachel Roberts stopped 18 of 23 shots for 0-1 Bangor.

JV: Waterville 4-2

Brewer 1, Messalonskee 0

At Oakland, Sarah Risser converted a partial breakaway with 15 minutes left to give Brewer its win over Messalonskee.

Carolyn Tuck made 18 saves for 1-1 Brewer and Katie Bingham made 10 stops for the 0-2 Eagles.

JV: Messalonskee 4-2

Mt. Blue 2, Nokomis 0

At Farmington, Tia Laine and Marlie Mochamer scored unassisted goals to lift Mt. Blue past Nokomis of Newport.

Em Dean saved nine out of 10 shots for the 2-0 Cougars.

Danielle Gray had 21 saves on 30 shots for the 0-2 Warriors.

Lawrence 5, Hampden Ac. 2

At Fairfield, Katie Hopkins scored a pair of goals and Janie O’Halloran and Courtney Langley had a goal and an assist apiece as Lawrence improved to 2-0.

Natasha Morris had the other goal and Amy Pottle had an assist. Ashlie Bonney finished with eight saves on 11 shots.

Lindsay Martin and Michaela Stevenson scored for 1-1 Hampden Academy and Kayla Alley had an assist. Tessa Wood finished with 11 saves on 22 shots.
