Duffy, Clippinger lift Cougars by Warriors

DYER BROOK – Melissa Duffy scored the winning goal on a Jade Clippinger assist with 20 minutes left in the second half to lead Katahdin of Stacyville to a 2-1 high school girls soccer victory over Southern Aroostook Thursday.

Mary Jo Robinson scored with 21 minutes left in the first half on a Kali Rush assist for the 4-0 Cougars. Kayla Stevens made eight saves on 16 shots.

Elizabeth Goodall scored an unassisted goal with 25 minutes left in the second half for 3-1 Southern Aroostook. Emily Cummings stopped nine of 17 shots.

Washburn 4, Fort Fairfield 1

At Fort Fairfield, Alex Bird and Morgan Berube each had two goals and an assist to lead Washburn to its sixth win.

Rose-Mary Williams scored the lone goal for Fort Fairfield.

Rachel Palmer made three saves on eight shots for 6-2-1 Washburn. Kristen Hebert made five saves on 11 shots for 4-4-1 Fort Fairfield.

Ashland 2, Cen. Aroostook 0

At Mars Hill, Jackie Raymond scored two unassisted goals in the second half to power undefeated Ashland to victory.

Taylor Baker had two saves on four shots in earning the shutout for the 4-0-1 Hornets.

Robyn Graham made five saves on 14 shots for the 3-5-2 Central Aroostook Panthers.

Houlton 10, Schenck 1

At East Millinocket, Amelia Butler scored four goals and Brittany Guiod added three goals as the Shiretowners picked up their first win.

Lainey Herring, Vanessa Sanderson and Chelsi Murray also scored a goal apiece for Houlton.

Jade Bouchard scored for Schenck on an assist from Courtney MacLeod.

Bethany Targonski made 12 saves on 20 shots for 1-4 Houlton. Leeann Toothaker made 14 saves on 32 shots for 0-2 Schenck.

Calais 8, East Grand 0

At Calais, Courtney Hill scored three goals and Jaclyn Magoon and Whitney Remington added two goals each to lead the Blue Devils to victory.

Elise Luddington also scored for Calais, while Shannon Scarlett chipped in with an assist.

Hillary Hollingdale and Toni Cole combined to save all five shots they faced for 2-0 Calais.

Courtney Lloyd stopped 10 of 20 shots for 0-2 East Grand of Danforth.

LCS/MSSM 2, Wisdom 1

At St. Agatha, Melanie Allen scored on a corner kick with one minute left in the second half to lift Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics to its fourth victory.

Kellie Peers had scored earlier in the half to rally the Eagles from a 1-0 halftime deficit.

Wisdom’s Andrea Chasse scored the lone goal of the first half.

Audra Kirk stopped 16 of 24 shots for 4-4 Limestone. Deliya Michaud made 14 saves on 25 shots for 3-6-1 Wisdom.

Fort Kent 6, Van Buren 0

At Fort Kent, Nicole Chasse scored two goals to lead Fort Kent past Van Buren.

Taylor Boucher had a goal and two assists for 3-2-1 Fort Kent. Jamie Pelletier, Katie Rossignol and Marissa Albert each added a goal and Rebecca Martin provided an assist. Elizabeth Morneault and Carissa Pelletier combined for four saves on four shots.

Jennifer Ouellette made 14 saves on 32 shots for 3-4-1 Van Buren.

Bangor Christian 8, Sumner 0

At Bangor, Katherine Bragg scored three goals and assisted two others to lift Bangor Christian over Sumner of East Sullivan.

Christin Pelletier had a goal and an assist for the 3-0 Patriots. Hannah Pray, Suze Lin Vandine, Kelly Robinson and Verity Ramirez each added a goal. Britney Palmer stopped both shots she faecd.

Kaylee House and Kelsey Tucker combined to make 21 saves on 43 shots for 0-1 Sumner.

Bucksport 2, Hermon 1

At Bucksport, unassisted first-half goals by Gabby Herring and Keely Sullivan rallied the Golden Bucks to victory.

Lindsey Allen had scored to give Hermon a 1-0 lead earlier in the half.

Stephanie Bridges and Emily Lenor combined to make 12 saves on 13 shots for 1-1 Bucksport. Megan Herbert made six saves on 12 shots for 0-2 Hermon.

George Stevens 4, Searsport 1

At Blue Hill, Leah Mattson knocked home three goals as George Stevens Academy rolled to its third win.

Alida Peake scored one goal and assisted on two others for the 3-0 Eagles while sister Emily picked up another assist. Kayla Eaton made two saves on six shots.

Kali Berenyi tallied the lone goal for 0-3 Searsport. Kate Bradshaw assisted on the goal, while Amanda Chaney and Megan Higgins combined for 11 saves on 24 shots.

Dexter 7, DI-Stonington 0

At Dexter, Raven Patterson, Allyssa Crane and Anna Fournier each had a goal and an assist as the Tigers topped the Mariners.

Sarah Domenech, Miranda Gove, Alexis Mitchell and Marissa Robinson each added a goal for 2-0 Dexter. Ashley Richardson stopped two of three shots.

Anika Powers and Britnie Jones combined for 20 saves on 27 shots for 0-2 DI-Stonington.

Lee 12, Penobscot Valley 2

At Howland, Amanda Gifford knocked in three goals as Lee Academy cruised in its opener.

Brooke Harris and Aarika Ritchie tallied three goals apiece while Kim Thurlow added another for the 1-0 Pandas. Karin Bird had five saves on seven shots.

Lyndsay Durost and Molly Thompson netted goals for the 0-3 Howlers. Julie Theriault stopped 13 of 34 shots.

Boys soccer

Katahdin 4, So. Aroostook 1

At Dyer Brook, Tom Anderson scored on a header eight minutes into the second half to break a 1-1 tie and propel Katahdin of Stacyville to victory.

Dakota Sleeper scored on an assist from Tyler Robinson to stake Southern Aroostook to a 1-0 lead, but Ethan Qualey scored on a penalty kick to tie the game before intermission.

Anderson scored twice in the second half, while Andy Kay also scored for the Cougars.

Qualey also had an assist for Katahdin.

Matt Tarr made 13 saves on 20 shots for 2-2 Katahdin. Colby Clark made 12 saves on 18 stops for 2-2-1 Southern Aroostook.

Fort Fairfield 5, Washburn 0

At Fort Fairfield, Josh Booth had a hat trick with three goals to lift Fort Fairfield over Washburn.

Andrew Forsman and Ryan Noyes both added a goal for the 7-0-1 Tigers and Cody Closson had an assist. Austin Dufour and Josh Churchill combined for two saves on three shots.

Brian Campbell made 13 saves on 31 shots for 1-6-1 Washburn.

Houlton 3, Schenck 0

At East Millinocket, Ryan Van Buskirk made 15 saves on 17 shots in a shutout effort as Houlton earned its first win.

Lowell Matthews, Justin Haggerty and Parker Brown each had an unassisted goal for the 1-5 Shiretowners.

Lanny Thompson had 23 saves on 28 shots for 1-1 Schenck.

Waterville 5, Nokomis 1

At Waterville, Wilson Guthro scored a goal and assisted on another to lift Waterville over Nokomis of Newport.

Teddy Worcester, Nick Christensen, Noah Spoffard and David Cook added goals for 1-2 Waterville. Zach Jochem stopped five of 10 shots.

Jordan Woodbury scored a second-half goal on a Kaleb Brown assist for 0-3 Nokomis. Mark Gustin and Mike Woodbury combined to save 17 of 26 shots.

JV: Waterville 3-2

Caribou 4, Madawaska 3

At Madawaska, Jarryd Rossignol and Kyle Corrigan both scored twice to lead Caribou past Madawaska.

Ben Rosser, Cameron Anderson and Ethan McDuffy each provided an assist for the 5-0 Vikings. Eric Brown stopped five of eight shots.

Nathan Beaulieu and Mike Cannan each had a goal and an assist for the 6-2 Owls. Tim McDermott added a goal and Chad Bechard an assist. Nathan P. Beaulieu made nine saves on 12 shots.

JV: Caribou 3-1

Wisdom 4, LCS/MSSM 2

At St. Agatha, Rocky Chamberland scored a goal and assisted two others to lift Wisdom over Limestone Community School and Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Kody Chamberlain, Kyle Daigle and Kurtis Daigle each added a goal for the 2-7 Pioneers. Curtis Collins stopped six of eight shots.

Alden Blease scored both goals for the 1-6-1 Eagles. Noah Townzen provided an assist and A.J. Rossignol made 19 saves on 27 shots.

Fort Kent 2, Van Buren 0

At Fort Kent, Thomas Levesque scored with 30:54 left in the second half to lead Fort Kent to the win over Van Buren.

Jud Taggett added an insurance goal off of a Zach Rioux assist with 22:21 left in regulation for 4-2 Fort Kent. Matt Harvey made 10 saves on 17 shots.

Pat Vaillancourt stopped two of 23 shots for 3-5 Van Buren.

Ashland 3, Cen. Aroostook 0

At Mars Hill, Carl Nemer knocked in two goals, both assisted by Tyler Cote as Ashland improved to 5-0.

Nick Gimble scored off a pass from Kenny Tarr for the Hornets. Lucas Belanger turned away all 22 shots he faced.

Logan McCarthy and Tyler Rusby combined for 20 saves on 23 shots for 5-4-2 Central Aroostook.
