A motorcyclist suffered severe head injuries Thursday after apparently losing control of his bike and driving off the side of Horseback Road in Burnham.
Jeff Barner, 61, of Burnham first was sent to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield and then transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor where he remained in the intensive care unit Friday afternoon, according to Maine State Police Trooper Perry Hatch.
A passer-by reported the crash at 3:45 p.m. Hatch said Barner was alone on the 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and that the cause of the accident was not apparent.
Barner was not wearing a helmet, Hatch said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
