No. 13 Harvard edges Maine

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Marcel Perl headed an Adam Rousmaniere corner kick past Nemanja Kostic with 23:30 remaining Friday afternoon to give 13th-ranked Harvard a 1-0 men’s soccer victory over the University of Maine.

Adam Hahn made two saves on 10 shots for 2-0 Harvard while Kostic finished with four saves on 15 shots.

Maine is now 1-2.

Women’s soccer

Virginia Commonwealth 2, UM 0

At Williamsburg, Va., second-half goals by Stephanie Power and June Hartman gave Virginia Commonwealth its win over Maine.

Hartman assisted on Power’s goal and Megan Flanagan picked up the assist on Hartman’s goal.

VCU is now 1-2 while Maine fell to 0-2-1.

Jasmine Phillips made two saves for the Black Bears and a 22-game streak in which she held opponents to one goal or less was snapped.
