Jones sparks MDI in OT Hall, Crawford help Trojans defeat Morse 19-13

BAR HARBOR – Terrence Jones caught five passes for 131 yards and scored the winning touchdown in overtime on a 2-yard run to give Mount Desert Island a 19-13 high school football victory over Morse Saturday.

Jon Hall scored on a 53-yard run in the second quarter for MDI. Tyler Crawford completed eight of 16 passes for 168 yards and had a 70-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Jones in the third quarter.

John Wolfe put Morse on the board in the third quarter on a four-yard run. Wolfe had 24 carries for 111 yards.

Sean Wallace tied the game on a six-yard run with about three minutes left in the fourth quarter but the extra point kick was blocked by MDI’s Jasper Cousins.

Nolan Hall caught two passes for 33 yards for MDI. Danny Dunn had 11 tackles and Max Dority added nine tackles and a fumble recovery.

MDI totaled 241 yards of offense and Morse had 234 yards of offense. Morse rushed for 216 yards on 57 carries.

Field hockey

Camden Hills 2, Winslow 0

At Rockport, Lizzie Mitchell scored both goals to lead Camden Hills to victory over Winslow.

Kate Fetterman assisted both of Mitchell’s goals for the 2-0-1 Windjammers. Dale Winsper blocked all six shots.

Emma Walters was 10 for 12 in save opportunities for 2-1 Winslow.

Belfast 9, Lincoln Academy 0

At Newcastle, Briana Curry and Crystle Kirby both had two goals and an assist to lead Belfast past Lincoln Academy.

Sami Bark scored a goal and assisted two others for 1-1-1 Belfast. Helene Wallace, Danielle Littlefield, Allison Murnane and Christine Hill each scored a goal. Paxton Mohney stopped all seven shots.

Aerelle Clifford made 14 saves on 23 shots for 0-3 Lincoln Academy.

Girls soccer

Presque Isle 2, Ellsworth 0

At Presque Isle, Sarah Porter and Brittany Bearden each netted an unassisted goal in the second half to lead Presque Isle by Ellsworth.

Rachel Arlein made 15 saves on 22 shots for the 1-2 Eagles.

Easton 4, East Grand 0

At Danforth, Brooke Hammond scored three goals to lead Easton to the shut out over East Grand.

Katie Cyr added a goal for Easton. Courtney Lloyd made 18 saves on 22 shots for the Vikings.

Woodland 3, Calvary Chapel 1

At Woodland, Christine Boomer scored two goals and assisted the other to lift Woodland over Calvary Chapel of Orrington.

Julia Nicholas added a goal for the 3-1 Dragons and Rachel Graybill assisted both of Boomer’s goals. Cynthia Bergin made eight saves on 14 shots.

Faith Thomas scored with 12:55 left in the first half for the 1-1-1 Sabers. Hannah Lacadie stopped 27 of 34 shots.

Washington Acad. 6, Sumner 0

At East Sullivan, Kayla Wood and Bre Nicely both scored two goals to lead Washington Academy of East Machias past Sumner.

Lily Evans added a goal for the 2-0 Raiders. Starting goalie Irene Leuey added a goal and an assisted. Leuey had five saves on six shots.

Morgan Traxler, Kelsey Tucker and Kaylee House combined for 20 saves on 33 shots for 0-2 Sumner.

Calais 2, Narraguagus 0

At Calais, Courtney Hill scored both goals to lead Calais past Narraguagus of Harrington.

Shannon Scarlett and Toni Cole provided assists for 3-0 Calais. Hillary Hollingdale turned away six of eight shots.

Samantha Baker stopped six of 12 shots for 0-2-1 Narraguagus.

Searsport 8, Penquis 1

At Searsport, Kali Berenyi had two goals and two assists to lift Searsport over Penquis of Milo.

Kylie Jettinghoff also scored twice for 1-3 Searsport and Sarah Bradshaw had a goal and two assists. Tianna Faunce, Kayla Garcelon and Shannon Higgins each added a goal. Megan Higgins and Amanda Chaney combined for 10 saves on 14 shots. Brooke McLaughlin stopped 19 of 38 shots for Penquis.

Fort Kent 2, GSA 2 (2OT)

At Fort Kent, Marissa Albert tied the game at 2-2 with 14 minutes left in regulation for 3-2-2 Fort Kent. Jamie Pelletier scored with 33:55 left in the first. Elizabeth Morneault stopped 13 of 33 shots.

Alida Peake and Lexi Wessel scored for the 3-0-1 Eagles. Kayla Eaton turned away 10 of 16 shots.

Belfast 3, Rockland 0

At Rockland, Whitney Cross scored a pair of goals to lead Belfast past Rockland.

Julie Smith added a goal for Belfast while Katie Mathieu grabbed an assist. Laura Small stopped six of seven shots for the 2-0-1 Lions.

Kayla McGuire made 11 saves on 22 shots for the 0-3 Tigers.

Boys soccer

Ellsworth 0, Presque Isle 0 (2OT)

At Presque Isle, Dillon Kingsbury stopped all five shots for 1-1-1 Ellsworth while Greg Berry Greg Berry made 13 saves for 2-1-1 Presque Isle.

JV: Ellsworth 3-0

Easton 2, East Grand 1

At Danforth, Brad Trask broke the 1-1 tie with 38:47 left in regulation to lead Easton past East Grand.

Jeremy Brock made 12 saves on 14 shots for Easton. Lucas Gillis scored on a Jordan Crone assist with 34:47 left in the first half for 1-1 East Grand. Abe Brittain blocked 12 of 17 shots.

Washington Acad. 6, Sumner 1

At East Sullivan, Juan Valdez had three goals and an assist to push Washington Academy of East Machias past Sumner.

Sung Min Kim, Joey Hunter and Young Gi each added a goal for 2-0 Washington Academy. Josiah Jackson turned away 12 of 14 shots.

Edgar Martinez scored off of a Joey Ossanna assist 13 minutes into the first half for 0-2 Sumner. Woody Huber and Josh Ring combined for 17 saves on 30 shots.

Calais 2, Narraguagus 1 (OT)

At Calais, Ryan Cavanaugh scored an unassisted goal with 3:21 left in overtime to lead Calais to the win over Narraguagus of Harrington.

Nathan O’Neill tied it with 5:31 left in the second half for 2-0 Calais. Dylan Ramsdell stopped six of 20 shots.

Andrew Polley scored on a Gustavo Ortiz with 22:43 left in the first half for the 1-2 Knights. Brandon Meserve made 19 saves on 25 shots.

Islesboro 4, Highview Chr. 0

At Charleston, Max Mahan recorded a pair of goals to lead Islesboro by Highview Christian Academy.

Jason Hatch and Don Johnson each added a goal for Islesboro while Jesse Tutor posted two assists. Gerard Scherr made two saves on a pair of shots for the 1-1 Eagles.

Ben Le made 22 saves on 35 shots for the 0-1 Knights.

DI-Ston. 3, Jones.-Beals 2 (2OT)

At Jonesport, Collin Ciomei scored two goals including the game winner a minute into the second overtime to lift Deer Isle-Stonington over Jonesport-Beals.

Eben Powers scored in the first half for 1-2 DI-Stonington. Joe Carter stopped 11 of 15 shots.

Derek Leach and Mikey Smith scored for 0-2 Jonesport-Beals and Jake Hunkler had an assist. Josiah Duhaime made 18 saves on 20 shots.
