Minutemen blank Lynx Eurich, Mills, Beaulieu help Stearns win fourth

MILLINOCKET – Adriana Eurich slammed home a Katie Mills pass two minutes into the game to lift the Stearns Minutemen to a 1-0 high school field hockey victory over the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx Monday.

Alyssa Beaulieu turned aside 13 of 18 shots in earning the shutout for the 4-0 Minutemen.

Sarah French stopped eight of 18 shots for 3-1 Mattanawcook of Lincoln.

JV: Mattanawcook 4-1

Dexter 4, Orono 0

At Orono, Michelle Chapman scored a goal and assisted on the other three to lift Dexter over Orono.

Jana Kenny had a goal and an assist for the 2-0 Tigers. Olivia Gardner and Jess Mason added goals. Sam Conary stopped three of five shots.

Amber Saucier made nine saves on 18 shots for 1-2 Orono.

JV: Dexter 4-0

Hermon 3, John Bapst 1

At Hermon, Lilian Berry scored two goals and assisted the other to lead Hermon past John Bapst of Bangor.

Jamie Beers had a goal and assisted both of Berry’s goals for 1-3 Hermon. Carrie Cole turned away 11 of 12 shots.

Kelsey McGrath scored with 5:26 left in the second half for 0-3 John Bapst. Hillary LaFerriere stopped 12 of 15 shots.

JV: Hermon 2-0

Central 5, Old Town 3

At Corinth, Rachel Trafton scored a goal and assisted two others to lead Central past Old Town.

Maddie Dunakin, Brooke Washburn, Aliza Underhill and Hillary Haney each added a goal for 2-1 Central. Kara Voisine made nine saves on 12 shots.

Jenna King, Cally Randall and Sarah Wilcox scored for 1-2 Old Town. Danyle Boober rejected nine of 14 shots.

Girls soccer

Lee Acad. 4, Bangor Christian 3

At Bangor, Amanda Gifford tallied three second-half goals, all of which were assisted by Aarika Ritchie, as the Pandas held off the Patriots.

Heidi Sappier scored an unassisted first-half goal for 3-0 Lee Academy. Karin Bird made 10 saves on 26 shots.

Kelly Robinson scored two goals and assisted on another by Katherine Bragg for 3-1 Bangor Christian. Bragg assisted on one of Robinson’s goals.

Moriah Bach recorded 13 saves on 19 Lee shots.

Greenville 2, Rangeley 0

At Rangeley on Saturday, McKenna Peat and Ruby Rockwell scored first-half goals to propel the Lakers.

Lauren Fling made eight saves on 10 shots for 2-1 Greenville.

Krista Jamison made six saves on 20 shots for 1-1-1 Rangeley.

Piscataquis 3, Schenck 0

At East Millinocket, Mallory Izbicki scored two penalty-kick goals to lead Piscataquis of Guilford past Schenck.

Victoria Tracy added a goal in the second half for the 3-0 Pirates. Jill Martell stopped 10 of 16 shots.

Leeann Toothaker made seven saves on 20 shots for the 0-3 Wolverines.

Boys soccer

Bangor Christian 2, Lee 0

At Lee, Zach Kutz scored on a corner kick and a penalty kick to lead Bangor Christian to victory over Lee Academy.

Sam McLeod stopped eight of 15 shots for the 4-0 Patriots.

A.J. Harris made 15 saves on 44 shots for 0-3 Lee.

Football

Maranacook 26, Hampden 14

At Readfield, Pat Norwood scored two touchdowns to help lead Maranacook past Hampden Academy Saturday.

Norwood ran for a 1-yard score in the first quarter and returned an interception 48 yards for another touchdown in the third quarter.

Jake Hewett added an 8-yard TD run in the fourth quarter for Maranacook and Mike Brennan had a 1-yard TD run.

Matt Osborne put Hampden on the board with a 1-yard TD carry in the first quarter. Shane Smith completed a 17-yard pass to Dan Ellis in the fourth for another touchdown.
