CAPE ELIZABETH – Tuesday’s opening round of the Maine Senior Golf Championship was canceled by the Maine State Golf Association when more than half the field was unable to complete play at Purpoodock Club due to rain.

The tournament is scheduled to resume today at Portland Country Club in Falmouth Foreside as an 18-hole event. Today’s tee times are the same as Tuesday’s and begin at 7:20 a.m.

The cancellation of the first round reversed an earlier decision by the MSGA staff to complete the opening round at Purpoodock today before playing the second round at Portland Country Club.

The gross score-only tourney is split into four divisions, but the Maine Senior champion will be the player with the lowest score no matter the division.
