Pelletier, Owls triumph Two last-minute goals lift Madawaska by Caribou

MADAWASKA – Kallie Pelletier scored two goals 30 seconds apart in the final minute of regulation as the Madawaska girls soccer team ran its record to 6-0-1 with a 3-2 victory over previously undefeated Caribou Tuesday.

Pelletier scored her first goal with just over a minute to play, slamming in a pass from Nicole Daigle to tie the score at 2, then converting a Susan Lavertu pass 30 seconds later to give the Owls the lead for good.

Daigle assisted on an earlier goal by Lavertu for 6-0-1 Madawaska. Steph Nadeau recorded four saves on seven shots.

Amanda Cyr scored an unassisted goal 23 seconds into the game for the 3-1-1 Vikings, and Ali Richards later added another unassisted tally. Brittany Doak stopped four of eight shots.

JV: Caribou 3-2

Presque Isle 5, Fort Kent 1

At Fort Kent, Carmen Allen netted two goals to lead Presque Isle past Fort Kent.

Katrina Whittier, Sarah Porter and Brittany Bearden added a goal apiece for Presque Isle. Allisen Donovan stopped four of seven shots for the 3-0-2 Wildcats.

Jamie Pelletier posted a goal for Fort Kent. Elizabeth Morneault made nine saves on 18 shots for the 3-3-2 Warriors.

Ashland 6, Van Buren 1

At Van Buren, Whitney Flint had three goals and an assist while Jacky Raymond had a goal and three assists to lead Ashland past the Crusaders.

Macie Pelkey and Suzie Poulin each scored a goal for the 5-0-1 Hornets. Taylor Baker made 11 saves on 12 shots.

For the 3-5-1 Crusaders, Macie LaPlante scored an unassisted goal. Trisha Gagnon and Jen Ouellette combined to save 11 of 17 shots.

Hodgdon 2, Cen. Aroostook 0

At Hodgdon, Samantha Carpenter tallied a pair of goals in the second half to lead Hodgdon by Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.

Shannon Martin grabbed two assists for Hodgdon while Emily Jurson stopped 14 of 18 shots for the 2-6-1 Hawks.

Ashley Estabrook made 11 saves on 13 shots for the 3-5-2 Panthers.

Easton 9, East Grand 3

At Easton, Katrina Martin scored three times and assisted on two others to pace the Bears.

Kilynne Beaulieu and Sam Fuller added two goals each for 2-11 Easton, and Brooke Hammond and Sydney Trask had one each. Beaulieu and Katie Cyr posted an assist apiece, and Taylor Burke and Trask combined for nine saves on 12 shots.

Sheena Roy led the 0-4 Vikings of Danforth with a pair of goals, Kelsey Dauost had a goal and an assist, and Jackie Dodge had an assist. Courtney Lloyd made 15 saves on 24 shots.

Boys soccer

Van Buren 7, Ashland 4

At Van Buren, Ben Doucette tallied four goals and assisted on another as Van Buren knocked off previously unbeaten Ashland.

Alex Martin had a goal and two assists and Josh Deschaine a goal and assist for the 4-5 Crusaders. Derrick Rossignol added a goal while Patrick Vaillancourt recorded 10 saves on 26 shots.

Tyler Cote, Jeremy Tarr and Carl Nemer each had a goal and assist for the 6-1 Hornets. John Casey added another goal and Lucas Belanger stopped seven of 18 shots.

Fort Fairfield 9, LCS/MSSM 1

At Fort Fairfield, Cody Closson and Ryan Noyes each tallied three goals to lead Fort Fairfield by Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Josh Booth, Otis Edgecomb and Graham Jenkins each added a goal while Noyes had three assists for Fort Fairfield. Austin Dufour stopped all seven shots he faced for the 8-0-1 Tigers.

Alden Blease scored for Limestone while Zack Moreau made seven saves on 26 shots for the 1-6-1 Eagles.

Sumner 4, Searsport 1

At East Sullivan, Anthony Cultrea scored a pair of goals in the second half to lead Sumner by Searsport.

Ralph Taymora and Edgar Martinez each added a goal while Joey Ossanna had an assist for Sumner. Josh Ring made three saves on eight shots for the 1-2 Tigers.

Dan Peach made 15 saves on 25 shots for the 0-3 Vikings.
