Broadcast award nominees

America’s top country radio stations and on-air personalities were recognized recently with the 41st annual CMA Awards. WQCB Q-106.5 received two of the top nominations for Small Market Personality and Radio Station of the Year.

The Breakfast Flakes, Paul Dupuis and J.R. Mitchell, will in the running for Broadcast Personality of the Year honors, competing with other radio stations across America during the live broadcast of the CMA Awards 8-11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, on the ABC television network.

The Breakfast Flakes team has been together for four years.

WQCB Q-106.5 received the Station of the Year Award in 1992 and 1994.

Incubator without Walls

BANGOR – MaineStream Finance, a wholly owned subsidiary of Penquis CAP, will offer Incubator Without Walls, a 10-week small business training course, beginning 6-9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Penquis CAP, 262 Harlow St. The course is sponsored by Bank of America. There is no cost to participate.

The Incubator Without Walls program helps individuals start and expand businesses with five or fewer employees. Full- and part-time businesses also can benefit from the course, which stresses that good management, effective marketing and financial controls leading to increased profits, and that business planning leads to business growth, profits and personal satisfaction.

During the 10-week course, the following topics discussed in detail will be credit, business plans, business concepts, legal structures of business, marketing, record keeping, financial aspects, cash flow, financing resources and more. Classes frequently have guest speakers from the local business community, which allows participants to network with local bankers, accountants, insurance agents, Web and media designers, and other experts.
