ELLSWORTH – The Washington County Committee of the Maine Community Foundation recently awarded $34,030 in grants to 14 Washington County nonprofit organizations, including the Women’s Health Resource Library in Milbridge. This grant will allow the library to continue operating a substance abuse support group for families under the guidance of professional counselors.

Grant awards also were made to:

. Cherryfield Academy, for installation of an elevator to meet handicapped-accessibility requirements.

. City of Eastport, for creation of nine bronze sculptures of Passamaquoddy Bay sea life on the waterfront walk.

. Cobscook Community Learning Center, Trescott, for an international learning game.

. Friends of Liberty Hall, Machiasport, to produce campaign materials to raise funds for restoration.

. Machias Food Pantry, for items not covered by food stamps, including emergency fuel oil.

. Northeast Historic Film, Bucksport, for a documentary video about the Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium.

. Passamaquoddy Bay Symphony Orchestra, Eastport, to help establish a local community symphony.

. Perry Elementary School, for an outdoor basketball court.

. Schoodic Arts for All, Winter Harbor, to purchase instruments for two children’s steel bands.

. Sumner Adult Education, Sullivan, for the “Real World Connections” program that will provide adult learners with work experience.

. Town of Milbridge, to engage community members in building a town soccer field.
