Animals a favorite of Wayne’s

Wayne, born in 1995, is a caring, giving and engaging boy. He is polite, affectionate and has a sweet disposition.

Wayne has a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. Wayne loves being outside and being active. Biking, swimming, basketball, baseball and going for walks are some of his favorite activities. He is a curious child who likes to explore new things, such as horseback riding and events at children’s museums. Wayne likes many different types of animals and has a particular fondness for dogs and horses. He enjoys living in a setting where he has the opportunity to play with and care for animals.

Wayne has experienced many transitions and losses in his young life without continuity or consistency.

He has lived in many residential settings and will need some time to adjust to family life. In his current foster home, he is fitting into the structure of the family very well. Wayne has many endearing traits, but his behavior can be challenging and he has a hard time trusting others. Wayne is open and curious about learning, and he will benefit from strong and consistent parents who will provide him with opportunities to learn ways to express feelings of hurt and loss appropriately.

Wayne has monthly visits with his siblings. This contact is essential to maintain as they are very important to him. Due to disruptions in his relationship with others throughout his life, a family who is willing to attend therapy with Wayne to build and support this new relationship will be helpful.

Wayne is a busy and energetic child. His anxiety level is heightened by the uncertainty he feels about his life. A family who is active and enjoys the outdoors is being sought for Wayne. Wayne benefits greatly from having one-on-one attention from his caregivers. A family who has a strong support system and is open to receiving outside support will be considered.

Wayne is among more than 100 children in the care of the state Department of Health and Human Services seeking an adoptive family. Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
