DEDHAM – A young man allegedly was robbed at gunpoint while with a group of people in a car late Thursday night.
Officers with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department were searching for several people in connection with the robbery, but would release few details on Friday.
“We have an alleged armed robbery,” said Deputy Jeff McFarland. “We’re still right in the middle of investigating this.”
According to McFarland, a man in his early 20s was in the vehicle with a group of people, all around the same age and all from the Bangor area, when the incident occurred in an undisclosed spot in Dedham.
“They were all in the car together. A gun was displayed. They asked him for some money and he gave it to them,” McFarland said.
No one was injured in the incident, he said.
Police were attempting to locate the vehicle and were searching for several suspects and witnesses in the case. Investigators hoped to talk with them late Friday night, McFarland said.
Lt. Tim Cote of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department also is working on the investigation.
