Iraq war mourning ceremony on Sept. 29

BANGOR – A ceremony mourning the loss of lives and resources in the Iraq war will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Paul Bunyan Park.

The event will include music by David McLean of Lincolnville and participation by Mary Alice Horrigan of Dedham, who lost her son in Iraq, and members of Veterans for Peace and Military Families Speak Out.

Also performing at the rally will be Peter, Ursa and Simon Beckford playing bagpipes and the Voices for Peace and Women with Wings choirs.

Co-sponsors include Military Families Speak Out, the Bangor chapter of Veterans for Peace, From Every Village Green, Pax Christi, Peace & Justice Center of Eastern Maine, Peace & Justice Center of Northern Maine (Aroostook County), Work for Peace (Washington County), Midcoast Peace & Justice, Peace & Justice Group of Waldo County, St. Francis Community, Radio Free Maine, Maine Peace Action Committee, Island Peace & Justice, Peninsula Peace & Justice, Peace Action Maine and Waterville Bridges for Peace.
