Fort Kent edges Hermon Theriault scores 2 goals as Warriors win 5th game

EAST SULLIVAN – Shane Theriault scored two goals, including the game-winner with 51 seconds left in the first half, to propel the Fort Kent boys soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Sumner Saturday in high school action.

Corey Voisine provided an assist on Theriault’s first goal for the 5-3 Warriors. Matthew Harvey stopped nine of 15 shots.

Edgar Martinez scored on a corner kick in the first half for the 1-3 Tigers. Josh Ring and Ralph Tayamora combined for 22 saves on 31 shots.

Caribou 6, Foxcroft 1

At Caribou, Kyle Corrigan logged four goals as the Vikings cruised to the victory.

Jarryd Rossignol added two goals and two assists for Caribou. Eric Brown and Chad McCarthy combined for four saves on five shots.

Kim Kim scored a second-half goal for the Ponies. Alex Gray made 11 saves on 25 shots.

Ashland 10, Washburn 1

At Caribou Friday, Tyler Cote had three goals and three assists as Ashland rolled.

Carl Nemer netted two goals, while Nick Gimble, Jeremy Tarr, Casey Cobb, John Casey and Jacob Paradis had one apiece for the Hornets. Lucas Belanger had six saves on 12 shots.

Nick McIntosh tallied a goal for the Beavers. Justin Howe stopped 19 of 29 shots.

Shead 5, East Grand 0

At Eastport, A.J. Seeley and Tom Pottle each netted a pair of goals as the Tigers earned the shutout.

Mike Cummings added a goal and an assist while Caleb Ricker and Dana Mitchell each grabbed an assist for Shead. Nick Vinson made one save on three shots for the 1-4 Tigers.

Abe Brittain made nine saves on 19 shots for the 0-5 Vikings of Danforth.

Greenville 2, Vinalhaven 1

At Vinalhaven, Tony DiAngelo scored the winning goal off a T.J. St. Louis assist with 33 minutes left in the second half to get the Lakers past the Vikings.

St. Louis scored 3-2 Greenville’s first goal on a Kyle Whitman assist. Tim Post blocked 25 of 33 shots.

Keith Drury scored an unassisted goal in the first half for 2-4 Vinalhaven. Mason Hopkins made 22 saves on 27 shots.

Dexter 2, Piscataquis 0

At Guilford, Rick Stewart scored two unassisted goals in the Tigers’ victory.

Chris Eastman made four saves on six shots for 4-0-1 Dexter.

Corbin Shufelt turned away 13 of 22 shots for 3-2 Piscataquis.

Presque Isle 2, Central 1

At Corinth, Warren Zubrick scored the game-winning goal 21 seconds into the second half off a pass from Parker Hovey to lift Presque Isle past Central.

Ethan Hill netted the first goal for Presque Isle off a Russ Mortland assist. Dillon Kingsbury stopped 14 of 18 shots for the 3-1-1 Wildcats.

Scott Kelley scored an unassisted goal for Central in the second half. Tyler Pineo made 23 saves on 24 shots for the 3-1-1 Red Devils.

JV: Presque Isle 4-0

Girls soccer

Hodgdon 3, LCS/MSSM 2 (OT)

At Hodgdon, Taylor Hovey scored the game winning goal 33 second into overtime to lift Hodgdon past Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Shannon Martin scored on a penalty kick in the second half to tie the score at two. Alyssa Hutchinson netted a goal in the first half for the 3-7-1 Hawks. Emily Jurson stopped 13 of 19 shots.

Stacy Bernier and Kellie Peers each tallied a goal and Melanie Allen made 26 saves on 34 shots for the 4-5-2 Eagles.

Madawaska 2, Calais 0

At Calais, Nicole Daigle drilled a penalty kick with 10 minutes left in the first half as the Owls knocked off the previously undefeated Blue Devils.

Susan Lavertu of 8-0-1 Madawaska added an insurance goal with four minutes left in the game and Sara Schlicher stopped all six Calais shots.

Hillary Hollingdale made 10 saves on 16 shots for the 4-1-1 Blue Devils.

Caribou 6, Foxcroft 0

At Caribou, Jenna Selander scored a goal and assisted two others to lead Caribou past Foxcroft Academy.

Kristen Espling had a goal and an assist for the 5-1-1 Vikings. Amanda Cyr, Abby Small, Lydia Kieffer and Emily Collins scored. Brittany Doak blocked six of 10 shots.

Sarah Whittemore and Haley McLeod combined for nine saves on 17 shots for the 0-4 Ponies.

Presque Isle 8, Central 0

At Corinth, seven different players scored at least one goal apiece as the Wildcats rolled over the Red Devils of Corinth.

Katrina Whittier led 4-0-2 Presque Isle with two goals while Amy Grivois had a goal and an assist. Kayla Legassie, Sarah Porter, Amber Griffin, Kali Ireland and Carmen Allen each scored a goal. Allisen Donovan and Kelsey Park combined for 10 saves on 15 shots.

Jess Daniel stopped 15 saves on 33 shots for 1-4 Central.

JV: Presque Isle 14-0

Shead 4, East Grand 0

At Eastport, Dorothy Pottle stopped all six East Grand shots to help Shead earn the shutout.

Robyn Stuart paced the 1-4 Tigers with two goals and an assist. Camisha Doten and Shelly Segein each added a goal while Whitney Vinson grabbed a pair of assists for Shead.

Courtney Lloyd made 15 saves on 23 shots for the 0-6 Lakers of Danforth.

Fort Kent 8, Sumner 0

At East Sullivan, Marissa Albert recorded two goals and an assist as the Warriors rolled to the win.

Jamie Pelletier and Julia Bowden each contributed two goals for the 4-2-2 Warriors. Renee Daigle had a goal and an assist and Emily Pelletier scored a goal. Carissa Pelletier made two saves on four shots.

Morgan Traxler and Kaylee House combined to make 28 saves on 55 shots for the 0-4 Tigers.

Oak Hill 13, Nokomis 12

At Newport, Nick Brown scored on a 38-yard run in the first quarter to help lead Oak Hill of Sabattus past Nokomis.

Kamar Banton made it 13-0 in the third quarter on a three-yard touchdown run for Oak Hill.

Derek Amoroso connected with Ethan Curry on a 38-yard TD pass in the fourth quarter for Nokomis and Amoroso scored again on a one-yard run with 48 seconds left but both extra-point attempts failed.

Oak Hill’s Brown had nine carries for 79 yards.

Amoroso completed five of 12 passes for 109 yards for Nokomis.

At Waterville, Terrence Jones collected five tackles, picked off two passes and recovered a fumble as the Trojans earned a win over the Panthers.

Tyler Crawford scored in the first quarter on a one-yard run to put MDI on the board. Odane Gaynor added a five-yard run.

Danny Dunn scored a fourth-quarter touchdown and had 12 tackles and two sacks for MDI.

Dan Hussey of Waterville completed a 30-yard pass to Josh Gaudette and an 18-yard pass to J.D. Gurskey for touchdowns.

Waterville committed five turnovers to none for MDI’s. Despite the loss, Waterville out gained MDI 316-186 in offensive yards.

Waterville completed 15 of 20 passes for 245 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
