ROCKLAND – The Maine State Ferry Service has been awarded a federal grant of $650,000 for the Rockland Ferry Pier.

The funds come from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration. They will be used to rehabilitate and expand the pier in Rockland. Additionally, the project’s funds will improve the timeliness and connectivity of the intercity and local bus service.

From the terminal in Rockland, the Maine State Ferry Service offers daily and year-round service to the islands of Northhaven, Vinalhaven and weekly service to Matinicus.
