Drowning victim ID’d as missing guardsman

AUGUSTA – A body pulled from Portland Harbor has been identified as that of a missing Coast Guardsman.

Vincent Colon, who was 24, fell into the harbor from a party boat on Sept. 1 and was last seen swimming 100 yards from the Maine State Pier.

The state medical examiner says Colon died from accidental drowning. Colon, who was from New York, was stationed in South Portland aboard the cutter Marcus Hanna.
