Now you’re cooking

The Patawa Club, a Bangor women’s group, has published “River City Recipes,” a collection of more than 300 recipes from club members, friends and family. In addition, the book’s artwork of Bangor landmarks is by Tom Kane. The book costs $10 and copies are available at The Bangor Museum & Center for History, Bookmarc’s, Borders Books, Furbush-Roberts Printing, The Grasshopper Shop or Patrick’s Hallmark on Broadway in Bangor. All proceeds will benefit local charities such as the Bangor Area Shelter, Good Samaritan Agency, The Salvation Army’s PowerHouse Teen Center, Shaw House and Spruce Run.

Fall into Lubec

Anyone who has visited Lubec knows the views are delicious, but this weekend, the pies will be, too. As part of the Lubec Fall Festival, there will be a pumpkin pie-eating contest at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The event kicks off at 9 p.m. Friday with a dance at Annabell’s, and runs through Sunday in various locations downtown. Among the festival highlights are a blacksmithing demonstration by artist Sidney Hughes, live music, a volleyball tournament, a scarecrow contest and more. For information or a full schedule of events, contact Dianna Meehan at 733-0906.
