Maine dogs featured in McCartney video

WAYNE – Two Maine Weimaraners are getting their 15 minutes of fame for less than 15 seconds’ worth of video.

The dogs owned by George and Anna Lyon of Wayne are featured briefly in Sir Paul McCartney’s new music video, “Nod Your Head.”

The video features McCartney and a bunch of models nodding their heads to his latest tune, from his “Memory Almost Full” CD. The dogs, also nodding their heads, are featured briefly near the end of the music video.

The Lyons decided to videotape their dogs after McCartney invited fans on an e-mail list in June to contribute to a group video for his song.

The couple has not been officially notified that the video submission was accepted. But they were notified by e-mail by another entrant. The video featuring the dogs was added to the YouTube site three weeks ago.

“It’s a lark and quite fun,” said Anna Lyon, assistant vice president and marketing director at Franklin Savings Bank in Farmington. “It’s a stupid song and not his best work … but it’s Paul McCartney!”

The couple shot the video from their deck. Set against the green foliage, the dogs, Griffin and Tara, offer a stark contrast to the rest of the video. Anna Lyon said she got the dogs to nod by waving chicken in front of them.

The Lyons, who traveled to Boston to see McCartney perform a few years ago, don’t expect anything in return for the performance.

But Anna Lyon wouldn’t mind hearing from McCartney. “It would be nice to get an autograph or an e-mail,” she said.
