Corrigan, Vikes trip up Owls

CARIBOU – Kyle Corrigan knocked in three goals as the Caribou boys soccer team improved to 8-1 with a 4-2 victory over Madawaska in high school action Thursday.

Ben Rosser added a goal for the Vikings. Jarryd Rossignol and Carlin Dubay provided assists. Eric Brown stopped eight of 13 shots.

Michael Cannan and Ethan Welch scored for 9-3 Madawaska. Shawn Parker and Curtis Thibeault both had an assist. Nathan P. Beaulieu blocked eight of 16 shots.

JV: Caribou 1-0

Old Town 3, Bucksport 1

At Bucksport, Colin Ziegenbein’s unassisted goal with 5:52 left in the first half gave Old Town the lead for good as the Coyotes earned their third win of the season.

Dom Kone gave Bucksport a 1-0 lead on an assist from Alex Pappas, but Old Town’s Chad Paradis tied the game on an assist from Evan Paradis.

Old Town’s Cody Smart scored the lone goal of the second half.

Ethan Stanley made three saves on nine shots for 3-3 Old Town. Jon Grindle and Ross Bowden combined to make seven saves on 15 shots for 0-5 Bucksport.

JV: Old Town 5-0

Calais 3, Jonesport-Beals 0

At Calais, Jeff Johnston scored two goals to lead Calais past Jonesport-Beals.

Jeremy Carr also scored for 4-2 Calais. Nathan O’Neill provided both assists on Johnston’s goals and Ben Pagels had an assist. Dylan Ramsdell made six saves on 13 shots.

Sid Cook turned away 21 of 44 shots for 0-6 Jonesport-Beals.

George Stevens 1, MDI 0

At Blue Hill, Ryan Kurtz scored on a corner kick with 38 seconds left in the first half as George Stevens Academy remained unbeaten.

Rashaad Frazier preserved the shutout for the 7-0 Eagles with five saves on 12 shots.

John Joseph made two saves on seven shots for 3-1-1 Mount Desert Island.

JV: MDI 4-1

Orono 7, Penquis 3

At Milo, Brandon Hall and Lee Hecker both scored two goals to push Orono past Penquis.

Paul Ohno had a goal and an assist for the 3-4 Red Riots as Mike Amato and Ian Staples scored. Nate Peterson turned away seven of 14 shots.

Jerell Arefein led 1-5-1 Penquis with two goals. Asa Sproul scored on a Taylor Delano assist. Richie Russell and Shane Woodard combined for 15 saves on 28 shots.

Schenck 3, Lee 0

At East Millinocket, Aaron Hutchins scored two goals to lead Schenck past Lee Academy.

Chris Ouellette had a goal and an assist for 2-3-1 Schenck and Josh Brown provided an assist. Lanny Thompson made 16 saves on 18 shots.

A.J. Harris stopped 16 of 24 shots for 1-6-1 Lee.

Dexter 4, Penobscot Valley 1

At Howland, Rick Stewart scored three unassisted goals while David Walker added another goal as Dexter triumphed.

Chris Eastman had seven saves on nine shots for the 5-0-1 Tigers.

Charlie Gardner scored unassisted for 3-2-1 Penobscot Valley. Aaron Awalt stopped 12 of 30 shots.

Girls soccer

Madawaska 3, Fort Kent 1

At Fort Kent, Kallie Pelletier, Ashley Cyr and Nicole Daigle scored to push Madawaska past Fort Kent.

Stephanie Nadeau blocked 20 of 29 shots for the 10-0-1 Owls.

Nicole Chasse scored on a Krystal Cyr assist in the first half for 4-4-2 Fort Kent. Elizabeth Morneault made 12 saves on 19 shots.

JV: Fort Kent 4-0

Bangor 1, Mt. Blue 0

At Farmington, Kim Jordan’s unassisted goal with 14:01 left in the second half was the difference as Bangor improved its record to 5-2.

Jordan made a run down the weak side of the field, gained possession of a ball that crossed the field and scored with a shot just inside the far goalpost.

Kortnie Hudgens made 11 saves on 13 shots to preserve the shutout for Bangor. Em Dean made eight saves on 12 shots for Mt. Blue, also 5-2.

JV: Bangor 3-0

Brewer 2, Skowhegan 1 (OT)

At Skowhegan, Erika Cote’s unassisted goal with one second left in the first five-minute overtime lifted Brewer to victory.

Sarah Risser gave Brewer a 1-0 first-half lead, but Skowhegan’s Whitney Jones tied the match with 15 minutes left in the second half.

Carolyn Tuck made 10 saves on 11 shots for 2-5 Brewer. Crystal Johnson made 19 saves on 21 shots for 0-7 Skowhegan.

JV: Brewer 2-1

So. Aroostook 3, Woodland 0

At Dyer Brook, Brittany Charette scored two goals to lift Southern Aroostook over Woodland.

Rochelle Nadeau added a goal for the 6-3 Warriors and Janel Rockwell provided an assist. Emily Cummings blocked three of six shots.

Cynthia Bergin made 17 saves on 31 shots for 4-3-1 Woodland.

Narraguagus 1, Calvary Chapel 1

At Harrington, Samantha Baker of Narraguagus and Calvary Chapel’s Hannah Lacadie didn’t allow a goal through two overtimes.

Courtney Foss tied it with 5:55 left in regulation off of a Katie Cirone assist for 0-4-2 Narraguagus. Baker stopped five of eight shots.

Faith Thomas scored on a Meagan Warman assist with 24:44 left in the second half for 2-3-2 Calvary Chapel of Orrington. Lacadie made nine saves on 14 shots.

Searsport 10, DI-Stonington 0

At Searsport, Tianna Faunce scored three goals and assisted another to lift Searsport over Deer Isle-Stonington.

Kali Berenyi added two goals for the 5-3 Vikings and Sarah Bradshaw had a goal and two assists. Kayla Garcelon, Shannon Higgins, Katherine Cotter and Kylie Jettinghoff each scored a goal. Paige Bradshaw provided two assists and Megan Higgins stopped 10 of 11 shots.

Leti Douglass made 23 saves on 38 shots for 2-4 DI-Stonington.

Old Town 3, Bucksport 0

At Old town, Katie Deshane scored two goals as Old Town blanked Bucksport.

Tiffany Gammon added a goal while Allison Brown and Ashley Goodwin collected assists for the 3-3 Coyotes. Annie Cashon had 11 saves on 12 shots.

Stephanie Bridges stopped five of nine shots for 2-3-1 Bucksport.

Bangor Christian 5, Sumner 1

At East Sullivan, Christian Pelletier scored two goals to lead Bangor Christian past Sumner.

Katherine Brag had a goal and an assist for the 5-2 Patriots. Amanda Hall and Suze Vandine both added a goal. Mariah Bach made five saves on 10 shots.

Lona Sargent scored an unassisted goal in the first half for 0-6 Sumner. Morgan Traxler stopped 31 of 54 shots.
