BREWER – Residents and people traveling through the city and the communities of Bradley, Eddington, Holden and Orrington will see helicopters in the sky this weekend and for the next two to three weeks.

InfraSource Transmission Services of Mesa, Ariz., is using helicopters to string Bangor Hydro-Electric Co.’s new Northeast Reliability Interconnect transmission line, an 85-mile-long high-voltage electric wire that will connect Orrington and Baileyville to allow more electricity to flow between New England and Canada’s Maritime Provinces.

Bangor Hydro officials are warning the public to be cautious.

“It’s very fascinating to watch, but we don’t want people to put themselves, others, or our contractors at risk when viewing the construction,” Gerry Chasse, project manager, said in a Friday press release. “Everyone should stay well clear of the right-of-way area during construction.”
