MCI runs past Dexter Miller, Bennett spark Huskies; MA, Bapst win

PITTSFIELD – Maine Central Institute’s rushing attack gained 379 yards on 39 carries and scored six touchdowns to record a 60-12 high school football victory over Dexter Friday night.

Nick Miller had 16 carries for 210 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Huskies and Shawn Bennett added 133 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns. Trevor Rowe and Mike Lynch added rushing touchdowns.

Zach Doirion completed 3 of 7 passes for 133 yards including a 55-yard TD pass to Brandon Wilson and a 38-yarder to Rowe.

Graham Sellers returned an interception 28 yards for a touchdowns for MCI. Jeff Morton and Sam Feliu each recorded eight tackles.

Mike Johnson gave Dexter its first touchdown on a 45-yard run in the fourth quarter and Kyle Gould added a score on a 3-yard rush. Doug Richardson ran for 100 yards on 20 carries.

Mattanawcook 27, Bucksport 6

At Bucksport, quarterback Derek Libby threw for one touchdown and ran for two more to lead the Lynx of Lincoln past the Golden Bucks.

Libbey’s 1-yard run in the second quarter snapped a 6-6 tie and gave Mattanawcook Academy the lead for good.

He also opened the scoring by throwing a 27-yard TD pass to Josh Murchison. Brady Vose scored on a 3-yard run in the third quarter, and Libbey added a 2-yard TD run in the fourth.

Derek Fish’s 2-yard run tied the game for Bucksport in the first quarter.

Vose led the Lynx ball carriers with 200 yards on 26 carries, Murchison added 67 yards on 11 carries and Libbey posted 43 yards on 12 carries. Libbey was 5-for-9 passing for 87 yards and the TD, and he also intercepted a pass on defense.

Nate Warren topped the Bucks’ ground gainers with 45 yards on 14 carries, and Andrew Findlay recovered a fumble.

At Cameron Stadium in Bangor, Nick Smith racked up 169 yards on 31 carries and ran for three touchdowns as the Crusaders shut out the Minutemen of Millinocket.

Kyle Gallant connected on 8 of his 17 passing attempts for 154 yards, including a 18-yard TD pass to Aaron Healey. Gallant had two interceptions.

Bapst held Stearns to 112 total yards.

At Rockland, Sam Weiss rushed for 140 yards on 14 carries and scored three touchdowns as Rockland piled up 226 rushing yards en route the victory.

Andrew Weiss, Sam’s brother, completed 4 of 5 passes for 86 yards and three touchdowns, one of which went for 39 yards to Sam Weiss.

Mark Boynton chipped in 53 yards on nine carries and added two sacks for a Tigers’ defense which allowed only 40 yards rushing and 158 of total offense while forcing four turnovers.

Dave Searle and Dillon Rossiter added touchdown receptions and Mike George an interception.

Edwin Santana completed 8 of 14 passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns, both to Ed Rodriques, for the Mustangs.

At Belfast, Darrus Grate rushed for 157 yards on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead Morse of Bath past Belfast.

Jay Cavanaugh added a fourth-quarter touchdown on a 1-yard run.

Nick Marston put Belfast on the board with a 4-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Jake Arthers connected on a 31-yard TD pass to Mike Rolerson in the third quarter.

Mount Ararat 31, Brewer 0

At Brewer, Josh DiBattista racked up 342 yards of total offense, threw three touchdown passes and ran for another as Mount Ararat of Topsham cruised past Brewer.

DiBattista opened the scoring for the Eagles in the second quarter with a 26-yard touchdown run, and followed that up with a 32-yard touchdown pass to Zach Drehobel for a 12-0 halftime lead.

Mount Ararat opened the floodgates in the third quarter, as DiBattista connected on TD passes to Drehobel and Zach Quinn for a 25-0 advantage.

Nick Dempsey completed the scoring with a 3-yard touchdown in the fourth, which capped a 12-play, 78-yard drive.

DiBattista finished 10-for-17 passing with 173 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 169 yards on 10 carries. Dempsey added 55 yards on 18 carries.

Linebacker Will Brown bolstered the defense with eight tackles while Joe Haggerty added seven.

Jamie Nickerson rushed for 56 yards to pace the Brewer Witches.

At Turner, Evan Barker threw for five touchdown passes to lead the Hornets by the Warriors of Newport.

Barker hooked up with Jon Letourneau for 15- and 16-yard TDs and also hit Josh Strickland for a 32-yarder. Tyler Green chipped in with TD runs of 9 and 36 yards.

Josh Vega scored for Nokomis on a 10-yard TD pass from Derek Amoroso.
