According to a report filed by Bangor police Detective Brent Beaulieu, Greg Benasutti, 38, was charged with domestic assault after he allegedly reached into the passenger side of a maroon Mazda in an effort to punch the driver. An ATV accident in Lakeville on Saturday sent two men to the hospital with serious injuries, according to a Maine Warden Service official.
Greg Hastings, 45, was driving an ATV with passenger Chris Altvater, 53, on Mill Privilege Road around 3 p.m. when the vehicle left the road and hit a tree, according to Warden Paul Farrington.
The ATV was destroyed, and officials requested LifeFlight services to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. When LifeFlight was not available, the men were taken to Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln. Hastings was taken later to EMMC with severe head and upper body trauma. Altvater was released from the hospital.
“Speed was a factor, obviously, given the severity of the accident and the injuries,” Farrington said. Officials are still investigating other factors in the accident, including alcohol.
Wardens Dan Christianson and Mike Boyer assisted at the scene, Farrington said. (Anne Ravana, BDN)
