EAST MACHIAS – First-half goals by Nick Hixson and Todd Junn propelled the Washington Academy boys soccer team to a 3-1 high school victory over Shead Monday.

Joey Hunter added a second-half goal for 5-2-1 Washington Academy, while Milos Gautier had an assist.

Caleb Ricker scored in the second half for Shead of Eastport on an assist from Willie Neptune.

Josiah Jackson made 18 saves on 19 shots for Washington Academy. Dave Medeiros made 31 saves on 43 shots for Shead.

Machias 5, Calais 2

At Machias, Mike Little scored two goals to lead the Machias Bulldogs to victory.

Ty Richards scored one goal and assisted on another for 6-1-1 Machias. Matt Little and Matt Mitchell added a goal apiece; Justin Weaver had 12 saves on 17 shots.

Sam Bell and Jeremy Carr scored for 5-3 Calais. Dylan Ramsdell stopped 10 of 20 shots.

Woodland 9, Jonesport-Beals 0

At Woodland, Scott Boomer, Chad James and Cody Sappier each netted two goals as Woodland thumped Jonesport-Beals.

Corey Townsend, Corey Rolfe and Ivan Siabulded added a goal apiece for 5-2 Woodland. Dan Proulx stopped 11 of 19 shots.

Sid Look, Josiah Duhame and Travis Allen combined for 19 saves on 34 shots for 1-6 Jonesport-Beals.

HCA 6, Averill/Alfond 1

At Hinckley, Jumtu Morishita scored three of his four goals in the first half, powering the Knights to their first victory of the season.

Thomas Fernandez scored two goals and added an assist for 1-5 Highview Christian Academy of Charleston. Morishita also posted an assist.

Ben Le made four saves on 11 shots.

Randy Doak scored the goal for 0-6 Averill/Alfond School. Joshua Gagnon made six saves on 21 shots.

PCHS 6, Foxcroft 1

At Guilford, Piscataquis Community High built a 3-0 halftime lead and cruised to its fifth victory of the season.

Kyle Curtis led the Pirates with a goal and an assist. Justin Davis, Nolan Lovell, Josh Herrick, Tobey Cleaves and Damian Bridge each added a goal for PCHS, while Brandon London contributed an assist.

Alex Francis scored for Foxcroft.

Corbin Shufelt made six saves on eight shots for 5-3 PCHS. Alex Gray made four saves on 14 shots for 0-8 Foxcroft.

Girls soccer

Searsport 2, Penquis 0

At Milo, Tianna Faunce scored two second-half goals to lift Searsport over Penquis.

Megan Higgins and Amanda Chaney combined for nine saves on 12 shots for 6-3 Searsport.

Erica Lyford stopped 16 of 19 shots for 1-7 Penquis.

Ellsworth 4, Foxcroft 1

At Ellsworth, Maggie Harding scored two goals to lead Ellsworth to victory over Foxcroft Academy.

Dominique Keefe and Lauren Peer both added a goal for 3-2-2 Ellsworth. Jen Richter provided an assist as Rachel Arkin stopped one of three shots.

Shee Ann Sargent had a second-half goal for 1-7 Foxcroft. Sarah Whittemore made seven saves on 15 shots.

JV: Ellsworth 5-0

DI-Stonington 1, Narraguagus 0

At Harrington, Meaghan Robinson scored the winning goal with 24:24 left in the second half to lead Deer Isle-Stonington past Narraguagus.

Britnie Jones stopped 14 of 19 shots for the 3-7 Mariners.

Samantha Baker turned away five of 11 shots for the 1-5-2 Knights.

Dexter 0, Piscataquis 0 (2OT)

At Dexter, Dexter and Piscataquis of Guilford goalies faced a combined 34 shots but didn’t allow a goal through regulation and two overtimes.

Ashley Richardson stopped 15 of 16 shots for 4-3-1 Dexter.

Jill Martell made 14 saves on 18 shots for 4-2-1 Piscataquis.

Penobscot Valley 4, Schenck 2

At Howland, Molly Thompson scored two goals to lead Penobscot Valley past Schenck of East Millinocket.

Jordan Leveille had a goal and an assisted for the 3-5 Howlers and Lyndsay Drost added a goal. Julie Theriault made 15 saves on 19 shots.

Courtney MacLeod scored both goals for 1-8 Schenck. Tricia Hobbs racked up 25 saves on 34 shots.

JV: PVHS 1-0

John Bapst 5, Presque Isle 1

At Bangor, Morgan Chasse provided three goals and an assist to lead John Bapst past Presque Isle.

Whitney Sinclair scored two goals and assisted two others for the 5-0-3 Crusaders. Catherine Lammert provided an assist while Sam Maquillian made seven saves on 10 shots.

Kayla Legassie scored an unassisted goal for the 5-1-2 Wildcats and Sara Scott had 15 saves on 20 shots.

Field hockey

Waterville 3, Belfast 0

At Belfast, Sara Walker’s goal 45 seconds into the second half snapped a scoreless tie and sent Waterville on to victory.

Chanelle Lansley assisted on Walker’s goal.

Jessica Defelice made it 2-0 with 8:47 left, and Danielle Fossa scored on an assist from Britt Locke with one minute remaining.

Kristin Tormollan stopped all 11 shots she faced for 5-2 Waterville. Paxton Mohney and Leeann Donovan made five saves on eight shots for 5-3-1 Belfast.

JV: Belfast 2-1

Camden Hills 2, Oak Hill 1

At Rockport, Amanda Kava and Monica Doucette scored first-half goals to lead Camden Hills to victory over Oak Hill of Sabattus.

Lizzie Mitchell and Erika Blauth provided assists for the 6-1-1 Windjammers. Dale Winsper blocked three of four shots.

Kayla Clark scored on a Courtney Clark assist with 2:36 left in the second half for 2-7 Oak Hill. Brittany Wood made 11 saves on 13 shots.
