PORTLAND – The U.S. Department of Justice has awarded $83,045 to the Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault. The grant is authorized by the Violence Against Women Act, signed into law by President Clinton in 1994. The law authorizes federal funding for statewide coalitions for member organizations that provide services to victims of domestic violence.
A grant in the same amount was awarded earlier this month to the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence, according to a press release from U.S. Rep. Tom Allen.
