Once again, president Ethelyn Treworgy and members of Three Rivers Kiwanis Club of Milo and Brownville have been working to bring you an evening of delightful entertainment for a worthy cause.
An old-time American Jamboree will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Milo Town Hall.
Admission is by donation at the door, and refreshments will be available by donation as well, and you can take a chance on a 50-50 raffle.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the after-school program of SAD 41.
The show features musicians “from the area and around the state,” Treworgy wrote of entertainers who will be playing everything from “guitar to steel guitars, electric guitars, banjos, mandolins, tambourines and other instruments,” she added, “along with singing from some very fine vocalists.”
You will hear everything from country music to blues, gospel and old favorites.
The after-school program is a new one, “started last year, for grades K through 12, in all schools in SAD 41,” Treworgy said.
“All money raised for this program, between now and June, up to $25,000, is being matched by a very generous individual in our area.”
Treworgy reported that, in last year’s program, Milo elementary pupils learned to play chess; middle-schoolers enjoyed “a hands-on area history project,” and high schoolers took advantage of a cooking-nutrition class.
Among the programs being evaluated for the current school year, she wrote, are chess, sewing, woodworking, painting, crafts and hiking, “and the list is still in progress.”
Treworgy wrote that “there is a great need for volunteers to help with these programs.”
