But you still need to activate your account.
For those of you who aren’t sentimental, don’t have a romantic bone in your body or are bitter that your man hasn’t committed – skip the next several paragraphs.
I will give no apologies, but this week it’s all about me. The Man on the Couch bought the most beautiful engagement ring I’ve ever seen in my life and now I’ve got weddings on the brain.
The best part, I no longer have to wait until he’s at work to secretly watch some of my favorite reality shows.
From now on, “Bridezillas,” “Wedding Central” and “Platinum Weddings” on WE TV, and “For Better or for Worse” and “A Wedding Story” on TLC will be staples in my reality routine (at least until The Man makes me change the channel).
He popped the question earlier this week, and after an emotional breakdown, I was able to utter a “yes” and now I can’t stop staring at my ring finger and daydreaming about the day it will become official.
I vowed to myself I won’t become an out-of-control “Bridezilla” and I don’t want all the glitz and glam of a “Platinum Wedding,” but it’s fun to watch and dream and be appalled at what other women do when planning their big day.
I also promise that this one special day won’t consume every conversation I have, but it’s very likely that my feet may never touch the ground again.
I’ve mentioned before when writing about shows like “American Princess” and reality beauty pageant selections that every girl I know has played dress-up and imagined perfection at some point in her life.
A friend and I used to drape pillowcases and handkerchiefs from the back of our heads and pose in the mirror, but I’m sure The Man on the Couch will serve as a much better groom and lifelong partner than our Ken dolls ever did.
The good news for all of you is, while there are more wedding reality shows out there than I realized, fall is the time for season premieres and there’s plenty of other reality TV for you to tune into.
“The Bachelor” made his debut Monday on ABC, and in similar fashion, “Girl Meets Cowboy” will premiere at 10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, on WE TV. More to come on that one next week.
