Brown, Deshane spark Old Town Coyotes collect 4th straight win

OLD TOWN – Allison Brown and Katie Deshane both scored two goals Friday to lead the Old Town Coyotes by Foxcroft Academy 4-2 for their fourth straight schoolgirl soccer win.

Charlotte Kenneway and Brown each provided an assist for the 6-3 Coyotes. Annie Cashon blocked six of 10 shots.

Shee-Ann Sargent and Megan Taylor scored on free kicks for 1-8 Foxcroft Academy. Lauren Kousaie had an assist. Sarah Whittemore made seven saves on 18 shots.

Boys soccer

Wash. Academy 6, J.-Beals 0

At East Machias, Min Kim scored a pair of goals and Jung Suk Bae, Tim Barnes and Todd Jun had the others as Washington Academy improved to 7-1.

Steven Knowles had an assist and Ryan Schoppee made two saves on four shots.

Sid Look had 32 saves on 48 shots for 1-9 Jonesport-Beals.

Woodland 6, East Grand 2

At Baileyville, Chad James and Cody Sappier combined for five goals and five assists as Woodland topped East Grand of Danforth.

James had three goals and two assists, while Sappier had two goals and three assists for the 6-2-2 Dragons.

Scott Boomer also scored for Woodland.

Tyler Langill and Mark Bartlett scored for 2-7 East Grand.

Dan Proulx stopped nine of 11 shots in goal for Woodland. Abe Brittain made 26 saves on 32 shots for East Grand.

Machias 3, Narraguagus 1

At Harrington, Mike Little scored two goals and his brother, Matt, added another to lift Machias over Narraguagus.

Justin Weaver stopped eight of 12 shots for the 7-1 Bulldogs.

Cameron Jordan scored a first-half goal off of a Gustavo Ortiz assist for 2-5-1 Narraguagus. Brandon Meserve made eight saves on 15 shots.

Highview Chr. 0, Chop Point 0

At Charleston, Nathan Chandler of Highview Christian and Chop Point’s Riley O’Donnell didn’t allow a goal through regulation and two overtimes.

Freshman Chandler, in his first varsity game as a goalie, made nine saves on 19 shots for 1-5-1 Highview Christian.

O’Donnell stopped 17 of 38 shots for 3-1-1 Chop Point of Woolwich.

Field hockey

Dexter 3, Piscataquis 0

At Guilford, Jess Mason scored two goals to lead Dexter past Piscataquis.

Denise Robinson added a goal for the 10-1 Tigers. Sam Conway did not face a shot.

Brianna Tweedie blocked 15 of 19 shots for 0-10 Piscataquis.

JV: Dexter 2-0

Stearns 2, John Bapst 2 (2OT)

At Millinocket, Stearns freshman Alyssa Beaulieu and John Bapst’s Hilary Laferriere didn’t allow a goal through two overtimes.

Becca Leavitt tied it at 2-2 with 40 seconds left in regulation off of a Katie Mills assist for 7-3-2 Stearns. Becca Leavitt scored in the first on a penalty stroke. Beaulieu stopped 10 of 12 shots.

Marianne Ferguson scored both goals for 1-9-1 John Bapst of Bangor. Kayla McGrath and Rebecca Ogden provided assists. Laferriere blocked 42 of 57 shots.

JV: Stearns 1-0

Foxcroft 3, Old Town 0

At Old Town, Jen Gagnon, Jill Champeon and Mariah Arnot scored to lead Foxcroft Academy past Old Town.

Emily Hutchins provided an assist for the 9-2 Ponies. Renee Maheu blocked all 15 shots.

Danyle Boobar and Heather Nye combined to make 29 saves on 32 shots for 4-6-1 Old Town.

JV: Foxcroft 3-0
