Crawford leads MDI by Oak Hill Offensive balance helps Trojans

BAR HARBOR – Junior quarterback Tyler Crawford completed 10 of 11 passes for 185 yards and connected with three different receivers for touchdowns to lead Mount Desert Island to a 38-18 football win over Oak Hill of Sabattus Saturday.

Terrence Jones, Jon Hall and Nolan Hall each caught TD passes from Crawford. Jones had five receptions for 74 yards and returned an interception for another touchdown. Odane Gaynor had 15 carries for 68 yards including a 23-yard touchdown run in the third.

Danny Dunn scored on a 15-yard run in the fourth and recorded 15 tackles and seven assists. Max Dority chipped in with 10 tackles and seven assists.

Dan Jannell led Oak Hill with two first half TD runs. Ron Brown added a four-yard TD rush in the fourth quarter.

Oak Hill totaled 202 yards rushing on 50 carries.

MDI had 282 offensive yards while Oak Hill had 239 yards.

At Thorndike, Collin Bates had 11 carries for 78 yards and two touchdowns to lead Orono by Mount View.

Kash Keezer was 3-for-3 passing for 93 yards and one touchdown, a 45-yard completion to Seth Dwyer.

John Doughty returned a fumble 40 yards for a touchdown while Blaine Silk returned an interception 70 yards for a score.

Edwin Santana led the way for Mount View completing 10 of 32 passes for 123 yards.

At Caribou, Billy Ferm scored on a Naniel Hilliard assist with 23 minutes remaining in the first half to lift Mount Desert Island of Bar Harbor over Caribou.

John Joseph stopped four of 12 shots for the 7-1-1 Trojans.

Eric Brown made five saves on eight shots for the 9-2 Vikings.

DI-Stonington 3, Schenck 2

At Deer Isle, Nathan Joyce scored two goals including the winner with 7:40 left in the second half to lead Deer Isle-Stonington to victory over Schenck of East Millinocket.

Jay Boyce scored with 35:42 remaining in the first half off of an Eben Powers assist for the 4-3-1 Mariners. Boyce assists Joyce’s first-half goal. Joe Carter made 13 saves on 15 shots.

Trevor Violette and Aaron Hutchins scored second-half goals for 2-5-2 Schenck. Lanny Thompson turned away 14 of 17 shots.

Bucksport 3, Hermon 2

At Bucksport, Dom Kone scored two goals including the winner with 9:58 left in the second half to lead Bucksport to its first win.

Jon Goodin scored an unassisted goal for 1-8 Bucksport and Jordan Trasko provided an assist on Kone’s first goal. Ross Bowden stopped 21 of 25 shots.

Ryan Kimball scored both of 2-6 Hermon’s goal. Alex Pedersen had an assist. Cory Johnson made 18 saves on 24 shots.

JV: Hermon 3-1

Geo. Valley 4, Mount Abram 1

At Thomaston, Casey Taber scored twice to lift Georges Valley over Mount Abram.

Dylan Rich added a goal for Georges Valley. Alec Young stopped 15 of 22 shots.

Jason Parret scored for Mount Abram and Sam Simpson made three saves on 15 shots.

Girls soccer

Caribou 4, MDI 2

At Caribou, Ali Richards scored a goal and assisted another to lift Caribou over Mount Desert Island of Bar Harbor.

Abby Small, Emily Collins and Christine Savage scored for the 8-1-1 Vikings. Lydia Kieffer and Jenna Selander provided assists. Brittany Doak blocked six of 12 shots.

Danielle Hutchins paced 1-9 MDI with a goal and an assist and Chelsea Bothen scored a goal. Elizabeth Sargent made six saves on 12 shots.

JV: Caribou 1-0

Houlton 3, Calais 0

At Houlton, Brittany Guiod scored a goal and assisted another to give Houlton the win over Calais.

Courtney Putnam and Amelia Butler added goals for 4-7 Houlton. Emily Bartlett and Lainey Herring provided assists. Madison Lizotte stopped five of six shots.

Hillary Hollingdale made 13 saves on 21 shots for the 4-4-1 Blue Devils.

Fort Kent 8, Sumner 1

At Fort Kent, Marissa Albert scored four goals to lead Fort Kent by Sumner of East Sullivan.

Nicole Chasse tallied a goal and three assists while Jamie Pelletier, Taylor Boucher and Mary Grace Morris each added a goal for Fort Kent. Elizabeth Morneault made one save on three shots for the Warriors.

Lona Sargent scored an unassisted goal for Sumner while Kaylee House made 26 saves on 62 shots for the Tigers.

DI-Stonington 3, Schenck 2

At Deer Isle, Leti Douglass scored the game-winning goal with 28:26 remaining in the game to lift Deer Isle-Stonington past Schenck of East Millinocket.

Holly Brewer and Lauren MacDonald each added a goal while Douglass and Brewer each had an assist. Britnie Jones made 12 saves on 25 shots for the 4-6 Mariners.

Kristina Jamo and Jade Bouchard each netted a goal for Schenck. Tricia Hobbs made six saves on 13 shots for the 1-8 Wolverines.

Bucksport 3, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Paige Pelletier, Keely Sullivan and Madi Daigle scored to lead Bucksport past Hermon.

Jamie Lanpher assisted Daigle’s goal for 4-5-1 Bucksport. Stephanie Bridges made 12 saves on 16 shots.

Megan Herbert turned away 12 of 17 shots for 2-6-1 Hermon.

Searsport 3, Orono 2

At Orono, Tianna Faunch scored two goals including the game-winner with 12 minutes left to lift Searsport.

Sarah Bradshaw added a goal while Meghan Higgins made 14 saves on 20 shots for the 7-3 Vikings.

Kalie Hess and Lauren Wheeler each scored a goal for Orono while Meghan Curtis and Rachel Balaban-Garber each had an assist. Brittney Pinkham and Ruth Mares combined to make eight saves on 12 shots for the 7-3 Red Riots.

George Stevens 2, Ellsworth 1

At Blue Hill, Alida Peake’s unassisted goal 12 minutes into the second half provided the winning margin as the George Stevens Academy Eagles held on for the victory.

Lea Mattson scored GSA’s first goal 10 minutes into the second half unassisted. Kayla Eaton stopped four of seven shots for the 9-0-1 Eagles.

Ashley Cloak scored on Jen Richter’s assist for the 4-3-2 Ellsworth Eagles. Rachel Arkins made five saves on 10 shots.

Hampden 1, Lawrence 0

At Hampden, Katie Foster scored on a Michaela Stephenson assist early in the first half and the Hampden Academy Broncos made it stand up.

Michelle Wells made seven saves on 21 shots for the 6-3-1 Broncos.

Jess Poulin made nine saves on 16 shots for 6-4 Lawrence of Fairfield.
